This has been the best ParserComp yet. There was intrigue and mystery, adventure and suspense. All designed to provide agency for the player.

Though only two games were entered in the freestyle class, many of the games provided innovation in writing and a broad range of development systems.

Special credit goes to the winning authors:

Yurf and Paranoia are both distinctly written, innovative games, delightful and unsettling respectively.

Yay, congrats to the winners and all the authors! Very solid picks in both categories, IMO.

(Can I say that I’m a little confused that Zugzwang and 19 Once got notably different scores, AND that Zugzwang scored higher than 19 Once? I can see giving both the same score – that’s what I did – or scoring 19 Once higher, since I think it’s got more character. But I have a hard time figuring out a rationale for enough people doing the one thing that doesn’t make any sense to me to get Zugzwang to edge out 19 Once :slight_smile:

Zugzwang received 16 ratings and 19 Once received 14. They were both rated enough that the scores should be valid.

I liked Zugzwang quite a bit more than 19 Once simply due to their genres; fantasy fighting vs a simulated group chat. Both were good but on their own standing I liked ZZ better.

The goblins have been engaged to produce the Lamp trophy plates. They predict shipping by the middle of August. Certificates are also in the draft phase.

Thank you to Charm and everybody in the whole comp! It was a privilege to be in the show with such talented authors and to be honest since I read the news I’ve been hyperventilating a little! And congrats to the other winners as well!!
