Hello,

The Spectators and Dr. Ludwig and the Devil are two of my recent favorites! Either should be a good starting place.
How many years back? From the last few years I agree with the above votes but also Repeat the Ending is pretty great.
A lot of Tads games have been released like According to Cain and I am Prey. If you like giant games Prince Quisborne the Feckless is by far the largest tads game ever.
What did you like in the past?
The Little Match Girl series by Ryan Veeder is easy to play and very addictive.
It makes me happy to see you return, Tale!
Thanks, I’ll check all these out.
You can search IFDB for games added in the last N years, sorted by highest rated.

Most of the games on the list are parser games, so you can just skip over the non-parser ones, but you can also exclude non-parser games by excluding popular choice-based systems.

I sent you a copy of Thaumistry over Steam. It should be there for you the next time you sign on!
Thanks Robb!
Of course all these are juat to tide me over until Cyberganked is finally released.
Brian is too modest to mention his own Never Gives Up Her Dead.
Amanda Walker’s game has now been recommended to me in both English and German. Guess I have no choice on that one.
I have to point out that the game isn’t just mine in the German translation-- I gave @OlafNowacki free rein in translating it and I’m well aware that translation is an art that often transforms and even elevates. So I can’t take much credit for Die Zuschauer: that’s all Olaf.
I hope you enjoy it!
Thanks Amanda, I did the same many years ago with Christopher Huang’s Sunday Afternoon. Quite an interesting experience.
Would you mind sharing that one? Never heard of it before, and the IFDB link is broken.
I can download it fine from ifdb. Let me know if that doesn’t work, I have the .z8 somewhere.
Oh of course it’s on ifwizz, thanks!
The “Story File” link here didn’t work for me in Chrome, but seems to work in Firefox, so never mind.
I guess because it’s an http link rather than https – browsers are increasingly frowning on http.
(I convert http links to https on IFDB when I see them and it’s possible, and IFDB converts another chunk automatically; but plover.net isn’t currently configured correctly for https, so can’t do that in this case. If Chrome is blocking this link, I guess it may also block all of of David W’s walkthrough links? )
That is very generous of you, but does not do justice to the matter. “Die Zuschauer” is more like 95% Amanda and maybe a meager 5% is me. Of course, when translating, you have to make the material your own so that you can put the text into another language. But “The Spectators” is great and really got me emotionally involved and that’s why I wanted to translate it in the first place. My aim was to deviate as little as possible from the original.
I can also highly recommend doing this! You learn on so many levels, because you can look over the other author’s shoulder and see for example how:
You simply walk in someone else’s shoes and it’s worth leaving your own path for a while. It also results in there being more good games in other languages.
I for one learned how to organize your source code (and never used any of it).
