Random curiousity post: I’m running online courses for under 18s on writing story based games with Ink, and one of the parents has asked if I have an adult version of the course.
We’re talking about a 5 week (1 hour per week) online course in live groups, aimed at non-coders and looking at both the story telling and ‘coding’ aspects of writing an interactive narrative.
Is that something people would be interested in, or do you know people who would be interested in it? I was aiming at under 18s as this all span off from being asked to create an after school club, but I’m now wondering if there’s a bunch of people out there who’d like to write interactive fiction but would prefer an in person starter to give them the confidence to get going. I mean, there’s plenty of straight up creative writing courses out there, so…?
I’ve run workshops like this before! If you’re pitching it at non-coders (as I do), in my experience the main group of people who have been interested are people who already do creative writing of some sort and are curious to try out a new form. Are there any local writing circles you could reach out to to gauge interest? It sounds like some of your parents might be interested too!
To my considerable surprise, it looks like “something” will be going ahead for this; at least one person is willing to pay my 1-1 mentoring rates for an introduction to writing visual novels in Ink, so now we’re at the stage of seeing if other people are interested as this is the kind of thing that is most fun in a small group setting.
So if you’re interested or know anyone who might be, point them my way
