It seems my inclusion of italics tricks the system into thinking I’m including badly formatted/structured programming code in my responses to the forum.
I get a message asking me to check if I really want to post the reply as-is, or if I want to edit it to clean up the code.

That’s a new thing I added. It’s a plug-in that detects if what you’re posting might be code and instructs how to format it. Essentially it’s for new users. Since you know how code works, just check the “don’t show this again” box when it pops up next.
