So, funny thing: I’m primarily super knowledgeable on jet aircraft. Propeller aircraft (very common for 1940s civilian aircraft) are very much outside of my knowledge base, except for some single-propeller Cessna planes made in like the 1960s and onward.
There are some flight dynamics and some cockpit patterns that have held true across the 1940s, 1970s, and 2010s, but depending on the questions, it might land in a spot where is very specific to the 1940s, at which point I have no idea lol.

Too late for this request but if you like aircraft and learning interesting things about them, I heartily recommend checking out Sylvia Spruck Wrigley’s books/newsletter/publications. Sylvia is a friend of mine from the science fiction and fantasy side of things, but she is also an aviation expert who has a special research interest of aviation accidents.
Also? She is genuinely hilarious. Even if you aren’t interested in aviation, you should check out her Accidents and Incidents newsletter. They never fail to make me giggle madly into whatever caffeinated beverage I am drinking at the time.
