I downloaded the zipped package from the Comp website. In it, there’s an “index” link that takes me to the front page where I chose “Play (author’s website)”. I got to the Clearing at the entrance of the woods and put a save there (named it “Reliquary”). I just opened the game again (“Play (author’s website)”) and typed RESTORE. It’s not there.
I had saved and restored twice after earlier sessions, and everything went fine.
Has there been an update which could have caused this?
Hi, I uploaded an updated version a couple of days ago to fix a translation issue, which might explain the problem. I’m really sorry for the inconvenience!
Well, it is indeed a bit of an inconvenience if you submit a Vorple game intended to be played online and then accidentally wipe the save-files.
Oh well, I’ll give it another go after I’ve simmered down. Shouldn’t take to much time to speedrun to where I am now.
Oh, something else. Is there a way to record and extract a transcript of my playthrough? I remember having trouble with this with another Vorple game lat year or the year before.
I haven’t done more than just play a little bit with Vorple, but the docs say that transcripting is something that Vorple supports … with some caveats. Notably, the section “the extended directory” says
Vorple supports saving transcripts when the player initializes it by commanding TRANSCRIPT ON, but retrieving the transcripts must be handled separately.
So there’s no built-in way to retrieve saved transcripts if the author hasn’t added one to the game. But there are some suggestions here that might point you in the right direction, even if they’re targeted more at authors for works using Vorple.
EDIT. Whoops, fixed a link, and some link formatting
