Residual Income by Coral Nulla
This is a short work in which you play as a vampiric assassin, set out to murder a famous mystery writer. The puzzle, structured around meandering through an apartment to try an open a panic room in the middle, is simple and really only takes enough clicking to get through. The strength of the work is the writing. I felt a sense of unease in the vampire narrator; Even though they appeared to have all the power in the situation, something was off. From the way the author is described and how the final encounter goes down, I get the sense that the story is more than just the story, and that the true purpose of the work is to animate a metaphor. Unfortunately, I’m not super clear on what the metaphor is. I may have been a little too sleepy when I read through it. My bad.
