OVER, an interactive novel set sometime in the mid-90s at an “All-American-Theme Park”. It’s a pick-your-path adventure, with the narrative passing back and forth between three characters, eventually requiring the player to choose which they will play to the end.
It was the era of vacations with mostly no cell phones, so the revolution of cheap walkie-talkies was a short-lived, golden opportunity for interpersonal chaos. There’s only so many channels, after all, you were bound to hear things that were certainly not meant for your ears.
It’s 66,000ish words, but honestly one of the things I’m trying to find out is how long it takes people on average to get through it.
I’m planning on submitting it to ifcomp by the end of the summer, so not a big rush. I’ve got a few playtesters working through it but would love a couple more. It doesn’t have puzzles, more on the “interactive novel” side of things.
No content warnings beyond a general language warning, I suppose, and discussions of homophobia.
Hi! It might be a while (a week) before I can look at it, but I’m willing to pitch in. I don’t do a lot of emailing, but you can pm me the info here if you like.
