Introducing Ourselves

Hi there! I’m Sage.
I’ve been interested in Interactive Fiction since I got my hands on The Warlock of Firetop Mountain from a flea market as a child. I’m an educator and an avid hiker. I’ve only recently started attempting to write Interactive Fiction using Ink, and fully intend to submit something this year to IFComp this year : )

Welcome! That’s also where I started, with the Warlock of Firetop Mountain. Funny, I’m just remembering that…

Hi — I’m L. M. Hawkes, author of the Lanista Chronicles, a series of illustrated historical gamebooks in ebook format set in the Roman gladiatorial world. I write interactive branching fiction in the vein of Bernard Cornwell and Steven Pressfield — stoic, tactically grounded, choices with real weight. Volume 4 launched last week, and Volume 5 is just now releasing for ARC review as I write this. Glad to have found this community.

Hi,

I decided it was time to stop lurking and introduce myself.

I found my way here after playing a few Choicescript and Twine games and finding them quite fun. I decided I wanted to make something like that. So I downloaded Twine, realized I had played with it about 8 years ago but it didn’t really click with me then for whatever reason… but it definitely did click this time! I somewhat impulsively decided I was going to participate in Spring Thing, and I’ve been hard at work on my entry for a while now. I am more of a programmer than a writer but I’ve quite enjoyed working with Twine this time around.

Admittedly I haven’t really played too much of the older (or newer) parser IF, or made much of anything of that sort, but when I’m not so busy I would like to delve further into that too, as both a player and also possibly an author.

Hi there! I go by many names, such as ⍼, L, Lip, Gideon, Meowth, Kitty, etc., all of these are fine lol. My earliest gaming memories were of point and click adventure games (big Myst series fan), but I discovered text based adventure games around middle school and played some of the big ones (mostly some Zorks). More recently, a lot of creative inspiration has coalesced, and I’ve wanted to try my paws at putting something together. I’ve been messing around in Inform 7, and made this account to try to get some technical advice on stuff as I learn more about it. I also hope that through this forum, I can be exposed to more works of IF that I can play through, so that I am not coming onto the scene as a relative outsider who doesn’t know what other people have made. Happy to be here!! Σ:3
