The ongoing anti-productivity jam challenges participants to create a work of interactive fiction using software not normally intended for the purpose (in my case, an Excel spreadsheet). For works of IF in formats not covered by the Treaty of Babel, is it useful to generate an IFID and include it in the work even if not in a format which can be extracted automatically, or is that actively unhelpful?

I need to update the spec (and tool) about this.
My thinking is: it’s always valid to generate an IFID and include it in the game file in the UUID://...// format. It’s almost always possible, and it’ll be easy enough to update the tool to search for that pattern in unrecognized file types.
