Yup, that’s what it’s doing. Seems to have helped, maybe.
I guess server overload makes sense, if everyone went to vote on XYZZY awards and brought up the list (using the algorithm) of all games in 2021, and voting on polls which also uses search…if there was already some code before that was slightly inefficient, leaning on it could have caused it to break. Maybe?
We don’t have great monitoring on IFDB, but my suspicion is that load has just been gradually increasing over time, and it finally crossed a threshold.
Down here; by the record, worked well in the last three or so days, but perhaps was luck…

As an update, it’s not connecting here in the US on Sunday morning:
An error occurred connecting to the database. Please try again later, or contact us if the problem persists.
[EDIT:] On that error page, I was able to search for a specific game and find it though.
As of today (3pm Eastern, two hours ago as I write this) I have updated the IFDB server to have 4GB of RAM. Previously it had 2GB. Dan thinks this is the easiest/fastest fix for the immediate problem.
Let us know how it looks.
Seems good to me. Front page opens quickly.
Quick response as of 2030 CDT from Texas.
Very fast response. Thank you!
confirm the fast response as 15:30 Rome.
