I have spent hours on this game, but I’ve barely got beyond the beginning. Here’s the situation:
I’m in the Hunter Room. I have an arrow. I can turn the tiger in four different directions, but I have no idea what this means. The headboard is loose, but I can’t move it or even refer to it.
I know from looking at the Javascript that there is something in the fire, but I need the screwdriver to get it. The screwdriver is in another room. I think the screwdriver is also used to remove the headboard.
So, how do I get to any of the other rooms from the Entrance Hall?
In the hunter room: if you have the full arrow (as in you’ve combined the feathers, branch and arrowhead), you need to use the arrow once with the statue to make the tiger turn, and then use it again with the statue when the tiger is turned right, which should create a new column in the entrance hall. I think it was called the hunter column..
As you explore further puzzle rooms, you’ll find items (like the screwdriver) and revisit previous rooms to USE them WITH things to get additional inventory items. You’ll find yourself revisiting rooms a few times for this. But the fire thing comes later.
General tips for other players would be to make sure to examine everything, and that USE blank WITH blank is the most frequent command you’ll use. Every puzzle room involves activating the statue once with an item, solving some sort of pattern, and then activating it again.
I got stalled in the fourth major puzzle room, the engineer room (that’s around where that loose headboard would come into play) if anyone else can give hints. I figured out how to use the fretsaw, but then I couldn’t figure out how to place the gears in the machine and stopped.
Thank you. Your first paragraph solves the current dilemma. I could swear blind that I had tried using the arrow with the statue in each of the tiger’s four orientations, but I must have missed that one.
I won’t peek at the other paragraphs just yet, but I know I have something to come back to if I get stuck again.
