Experimental IFWiki link support on ifarchive.org

I’ve just deployed a bunch of IFWiki metadata to ifarchive.org. You can see this on https://ifarchive.org/indexes/if-archive/games/zcode/, for example. Many game entries now contain IFWiki links.

This isn’t limited to games. https://ifarchive.org/indexes/if-archive/magazines/XYZZYnews/ links to XYZZYnews - IFWiki , for example.

Now, these links are all extracted from a URL dump that @Jonathan sent me a few months ago. I had to crunch that data a lot and there’s still some spurious links floating around. Apologies! We have a plan for better tools for cleaning up the metadata; please stand by for more news on that.

Another obvious problem is that the IFComp directories, https://ifarchive.org/indexes/if-archive/games/competition2000/ and up, don’t have any IFWiki game links. This is my fault, not Jonathan’s. Because that IFComp2000 page has no entries for individual games, there was no place to put the game metadata. It does link to https://www.ifwiki.org/IFComp_2000 though.

I’ll need to think about how we want to handle that. Maybe format all those pages like https://ifarchive.org/indexes/if-archive/games/competition2014/, which does have individual game links. Sorry; there’s a lot of historical cruft in how we format this stuff.

In the meantime, enjoy the IFWiki links that exist so far.

This is cool – thank you.

How have you gone about it so far? It might be possible to provide more suitable data from IFWiki. Let me know if I can help, either here or at Potential links from the IF Archive to IFWiki.

I’d love this topic to have an ifwiki tag but I’ve lost the magic power to add it.
