Just sharing this because it’s so nice! Over the summer I ran some work experience sessions for Children’s Capital of Culture in Rotherham, where young people aged 14-16 developed Twine games for younger children (5-8 or 9-11) with a link to the project themes.
Today we exhibited the games in a local council building/library for kids on half term holidays as part of the Plug in and Play games festival, and had such an amazing reception from the children and parents who attended.
I really was not expecting such a keen reception - one 7yo spent almost 2 hours with us, he played every single game (and some of them twice!)
You can check out some of the games we exhibited here - very proud of what the young people developed
Two screens in with Rotherham Magical Investigator and I coma across this sentence:
You angle your flat cap from your eyes to better take in your surroundings, also brushing off a few specks of dust from your tweed jacket.
That’s good writing. A vague impression of your PC, not directly assigning character traits, but definitely giving the player something to grab hold of and project their imagination onto.
Vey cool project, Lauren. It’s experineces like this that will linger in the students’ memories.
