Do they have to be new? Unfortunately I’ve been snowed under with work but I think using IF as a teaching aid is a great idea. I did make a “game” a while back that I think would fit I could enter but it’s not new.
Thanks for the response. Unfortunately already published so may have to skip this one as won’t get the time to make another in time. Nice idea for a jam though! (And it was a good reminder for me to fix a few minor bugs in the one I already have up on itch .)
Hey, hoping some other people find impetus to participate. We’re only at 3 (but only two show. Was the 3rd hidden for suspected spamming? It seems interesting but doesn’t quite fit the jam,) and I had an idea for a 2nd, but I’d feel silly putting it out there without many other fellow competitors.
Thanks for holding this – my entry was something I wanted to do for a while.
Arghh, I just got hold of a new book for my thesis research and it’s struck me with inspiration, but I’m also falling ill and may not have it done in time. We’ll have to see…
Hey, someone from outside this community entered something (I think) worthy! They have other interesting works too.
@alyshkalia and @kamineko, I do recommend following through if you acan. With this project off my mind I tried a few things I’d been meaning to try for one of my text adventures – and it worked pretty well.
Don’t worry if it’s too dry or whatever. I did about mine but it wasn’t until I ignored that that I really got going. And I tried to add a few bells and whistles at the end to make it more interesting or the explanations better.
Yeah, I’m going to be on the road for all of tomorrow and may not have stable internet any time before 11pm, so I had to get it in today! But yesterday I found a PDF of Hittite Prayers (2002, translated by Singer, edited by Hoffner), and inspiration struck, so I spent all today writing.
It was a fun exercise! It’s been a while since I’ve been able to throw myself completely into a single project like this.
Thanks for the insight into Hittite society! What good fortune to have so many of the Great King’s writings preserved to this day. I trust you will keep us informed once you have, in true Indiana Jones fashion, unearthed the later capital of the Hittites and the writings and treasures it holds.
Ah bother, I had an idea I absolutely wanted to do and then this last week on the farm has been one thing after another after another. Hmm… I might be able to just pull the code pieces I need from other experiments, maybe I can throw together a tiny speed IF this evening…
Yes! It’s some Inform source code that beginning authors can use to make a simple choice game, and a demonstration game that uses that code while explaining how it works.
Welp, I did not get it done last night; my brother is homeschooling his 13-year-old so they came up a week early for Thanksgiving and I ended up stopping partway through to spend time doing things with her. But this is being a fun project so I’ll probably finish it over the next couple days even though I missed the jam.
