So… I’ve recommended Lime Ergot at Mastodon today:
Because is an all-time favourite of mine. I love it so much that I even translated it into Spanish.
So, what’s your favorites from past editions?

I am very partial about Origin of love from last year
But im looking forward to the titles from this thread to add to my to play next list!
I haven’t played all that many Ecto-games yet. Still:
I was very impressed by The Enigma of the Old Manor House. And then I was blown away when I found out it was a Petite Mort entry.
My favourite? The Spectators by Amanda Walker.

Even Some More Tales from Castle Balderstone
Escape from Hell
The Spectators
The Northnorth Passage.
dripping with the waters of SHEOL (looks like this one was lost to the sands of time)
LIDO
All Visitors Welcome
Some have inspired me in puzzles or coding:
The Enigma of the Old Manor House
Faithful Companion
Open That Vein
little
Civil Mimic
One I’d like to see finished one day:
The Trials and Tribulation of Edward Harcourt
We’ve had some updates since the EctoComp, and are about two chapters away from being complete (currently editing the second to last).
There’s a lot of Ectocomp games I haven’t played, but here’s some I did play and like. None are that long, so they’re great to check out while you eat or something. Well, maybe not while you eat. But you get the idea.
Lime Ergot
“Now everyone is gone. (Well, almost everyone.)”
Creative puzzler that oozes mood despite its short length.
The Northnorth Passage
“Oh no, the old family curse has flared up!”
Another creative puzzler that pokes a lot of fun at the player. Had to look up the answer, but it’s so clever that I still remember it.
LIDO:
“DO NOT DRINK THE WATER”
As a sucker for extradimensional spaces and body horror, I loved this one. Endings are great.
Death by Powerpoint
“This Halloween, you have a PowerPoint presentation to deliver. And deliver it you will, even if it kills you.”
Absurdist corporate horror about giving a PowerPoint presentation (guess how well it goes?). Disjointed but very zany.
It is Pitch Black
“Trapped alone in a darkened antique store with a man-eating grue, can you keep a light going long enough to survive?”
Fun puzzle game. Beat it relatively easily but spent far too long replaying for the highest possible score.
Psychomanteum
“Every year your friend hosts a Halloween party where guests are expected to complete three dares. This is the third.”
Another short game with a clever twist. Surreal and unsettling.
Bring Me a Head!
“Better hope you can hack it.”
Gothic and grotesque in classic Chandler Groover fashion.
Also shoutouts to the Castle Balderstone series, which I keep telling myself to finish but never do.
I found SHEOL on the Internet Archive, here.
All of Caleb Wilson’s Ectocomp games are great, including Moon Goon and The Bootscraper. Others I enjoyed: All Visitors Welcome by Bitter Karella, Ashes by Glass Rat Media, and The Horrible Pyramid by Ryan Veeder.
Please make some noise when you finish it. I’d love to play the full story.
I definitely will
