Discourse themes and colors

Hanon… I’m wrong or with forum mantainer status, you can create new themes and color schemes ? you can create a temporary theme/colorscheme for messing/testing, I’m correct ?

For sure, if I find, for example “ZZZtesting” below “zeronoise” (the last in the theme list) I steer clear from it…

only a suggestion, not a criticism…

Many people make forum themes for Discourse. I usually download them, and some I’ve modified slightly to fit what we do. I’ve needed help with it before.

Color schemes are a bit easier. I’ve actually made a few to offer background colors that aren’t just white. I actually tweaked the IntFiction and Dark color schemes to make links more readable earlier.

I don’t see ZZZtesting in the theme list. Can you get a screenshot if you see it?

ahem… was an example of my suggestion, making a test theme for experimenting/messing; surely something is wrong in my english, if I gives the impression of an actual theme in the list… you can “proofread” what I have written, lest starting another major mistake/disagreement about nonexistant themes ?

I apologize for misunderstanding English. You said “steer clear from it” so I thought you were worried that test code was being shown.

The answer I believe you want: yes, if you create a theme there’s a possibility we can look at it.

and is where the issue lies: the experimenting was done in an active theme, leading to the glitch during the experiment.

so my suggestion is: work in a separate, perhaps forked, theme, named in a manner which put clearly that is a WIP/experiment in progress.

Of course one can then ask for test/comments on the new theme, pointing to its name in the list.

Seems to me a sensible and logical approach to theme building in a live online context.

Your feedback is noted. I’m sorry most of the work we do in the forum is live. The alternative would be to take the forum offline every time we update something. I was working on some site settings today that changed things. It had nothing to do with a theme.
