Diacho (2026) is a remake of Diacho, a text RPG I made in the late 1990s.
The premise is simple: someone stole the game’s graphics, and you have to find out who did it.
Faithful to the original, it features 15 classes and 10 playable races to choose from, each with its own abilities and traits. There is no random dungeon, but there is a carefully designed map and an underground dungeon full of comedic encounters, combat, random items, and hidden things.
Did some wandering in the woods, almost got one-shot by a mindflayer, then stumbled my way into a neighboring village where I immediately got captured for being a (half) elf, thrown in an arena, and gored to death.
Overall, no complaints! It feels just like the old-school rpg games it’s emulating. I can tell I didn’t get a good hang of combat in the time I spent, but I also only stuck to one build. Definitely a recommended look for anybody who likes open-ended adventure games.
