I can’t answer “how,” but I’m pretty sure I’ve seen zcode games with alternate status bars at the top. I think you can put anything you want there. Are you talking about a date and time specific to the game, or the actual player’s system date/time? If the former, my guess is that it’s possible. But somebody else would have to say how.
See section 8.3 of the I7 manual for the basic instructions for changing the status line. If you need more flexibility (a bigger status line, a 3-column rather than 2-column status line, etc.), see the Basic Screen Effects extension.
