"Dark Reign" - simulator of the Dark Lord

Hello! I would like to present my text game/interactive fiction. „Dark Reign” is a strategy text game in which the player takes on the role of a Sauron-style Lord of Darkness with the goal of conquering the world. He will carry out his plans by making various decisions. He will build his army and send it into battles, weave intrigues and deceptions, create secret spy networks and sectarian cults, recruit agents and commanders, corrupt representatives of Free Peoples and sow discord among them, collect magical artifacts and perform sinister Link to download: Dark Reign 1.51 . This is an html file that opens in a browser, but You can play offline. Note – one game takes about 1 hour, but the premise is that the game can be approached several times, each time making different decisions, getting different results and discovering something new. Feedback is very much welcome. Very, very much.

I like it.

Is the event sequence randomised?

also, “Good thing you’re already insane HAHAHAHAHA!”

Hi, thanks for your interest. The appearance of events (more in the context of whether they will appear at all in a given gameplay, not in what order) is influenced by randomness combined with player decisions (e.g. if you have high influence in a given kingdom, you increase the chances of opportunities related to that region appearing).

Neat idea. It would be interesting to take the idea further. For example, to customise the events based on previous decisions and previous events. In particular to increase continuity into an, ad hoc, story.

Hmm, but that’s largely how it works. What previous events have occurred determines what decisions the player may have made (and these are not only mechanical events like “do you prefer to increase power or secret influence in this one,” but also plot events)-and future events depend on them. So continuity exists. Maybe just play and you will find out everything directly
