is anyone else unable to upload a z-file to borogove? i simply get an unhelpful error message. i emailed them but was told everything is working fine which is equally unhelpful.
You’re talking about https://borogove.io , right?
What was the error message?
yes, that’s the site
i log in, click ‘upload’, drag or select my z5 file, fill in my info and click all the boxes, and get:
Error uploading the game file. Please try again.
What browser are you using, and on what operating system? Have you tried a different browser? Do you have any browser extensions installed? Have you tried it with those extensions deactivated? (By default, incognito mode in Chrome or a private window in Firefox are easy ways to achieve this… unless you’ve configured given extensions to be active even then.)
And, just in case, can you successfully open and play this z5 file in a Z-code interpreter? (I’m not suggesting you’re getting that error because it’s an invalid Z-code file per se; this would just indicate that the file hadn’t been, say, accidentally overwritten with 5GB of garbage.)
on macos - have tried with chrome and safari.
on windows and linux have tried with chrome.
no extensions.
z5 file works fine.
have never had an issue uploading to borogove before.
if no one else is having this issue then i’m going to assume my user profile has been corrupted or something.
I should have mentioned another point to trying incognito/private-window mode: it would mean trying it without whatever’s in your existing cookies/localstorage (whose contents may have ended up in some broken state).
thanks, but yeah, tried that too. still no go.
huh. if i upload it as ‘unlisted’ it works. so that will work for me.
i still think borogove has a problem, despite the response i got from the admin.
