I started keeping a transcript after I noticed a disambiguation bug with conversation. I got past that point, though I had to restart once I realized you can lock yourself out of victory a couple of ways.

I use help a lot and I decompiled things but there are a lot of places I’m still stuck. For instance, right now I’ve spent a ton of saves and time and UNDOing trying to escape the pirate ship. From the code, I know that eventually the
