Beta Testing: A Cabin In The Woods (IFComp 2024)

I’m looking for a few testers for my current Twine/Sugarcube game, A Cabin in the Woods.

It is set in an an open world, procedurally generated idyllic forest. You work rebuild your ruined cabin, explore the forest and discover the mystery of why you’re there.

Gameplay is probably 30m-1h but I’ll adjust this based on tester feedback. There will be a walkthrough for IFComp entry.

This is not a typical IF (think “Other” category) and I came at it like a text-based survival building game.

There is built in map (with fog of war), a procedural weather system, day/night cycles, crafting and wandering creatures. The main goals are to explore the forest, collect resources and items, upgrade and expand the cabin, discover interesting POIs and uncover clues as to what the mystery of the forest is.

I had planned to enter it in IFComp 2024, but it seems like it is going to be down to the wire, as I’m still actively developing it.

I’m looking for tester feedback related to gameplay (is it fun, do thinks make sense, is there proper guidance, etc.), and anything testers care to comment on!

If anyone is interested, let me know and I’ll provide the itch.io secret url and an optional invite to the (very small) Discord testers server.

Thanks!

EDIT: Added gameplay time (~30m-1h).

Still looking for testers.

Let me know if there is anything else that might entice folks to try it out!

Thanks!

I can give it a shot!
