Beta test a shell account (u)nix server for use with IF

A public access server designed for computer enthusiasts that prefer a command line interface (shell account). Our system highlights Unix commands from the 70s and 80s along with their modern variants. We provide resources for members to have personal websites, gopher sites, IRCs and phlogs. We support playing, development and storage/ public access of text based interactive fiction including Inform 6, Punyinform, Dialog and now Zilf/Zapf.

If interested, send me a private message for login credentials.

This is a neat idea.

I don’t really have a need for it, and I don’t want to waste server resources, but is a read-only guest account possible so that people can check it out freely and without making changes?

Read-only accounts are unavailable. However, anyone that would like to try it out is welcome to try a regular account. Unix/Linux is pretty secure. The server is pretty secure and difficult for a user to cause problems for others without malicious intent.

I have a website with basic info available at: https://fospublicnix.com.

Shell accounts are welcome for any member of intfiction.org
