trying to balance learning a new language (Javascript), writing an IF about a Civil War battle, an developing my own syntax for IF. Just getting done a little of each !!
Been there, friend. Make sure you don’t burn yourself out; it’ll sneak up on you!
Me too (er, except my game was about a strange house).
Please keep me posted. I find Toms Trevor Adventure Game City of Azlan particularly enlightening. It’s from ZX81 programming book.
The adventure system that Trevor Toms used in that The City of Alzan game was fairly influential at the time too. It was used for a bunch of other games by Phipps Associates and directly inspired Sean Ellis to create the Graphic Adventure Creator for 8-bit machines and then the STAC for Atari ST. Trevor himself was inspired by the August 1980 Practical Computing article by Ken Reed that we discussed in another thread; the one that also inspired the whole Gilsoft (The Quill, PAW, SWAN, DAAD) series of adventure systems.
A great archive, thanks.
