I have updated the forum software to the next long term support release. I don’t think it will have too much of an impact on most people’s use of the forum, but there might be some small changes. If anyone has some difficulty with something, let us know in this topic.

Yeah, it looks like they made “New” and “Unread” into sub-tabs under “New”:
Where “Topics” is the old “New” and “Replies” is the old “Unread”.
Since I usually check New and Unread at the same time, this is probably a good change for me.

Hrmph. They’ve broken the keyboard shortcuts, though: G,U and G,N for Unread/New now go to almost the same place, but only G,N has the Topics/Replies links.
Edit: oh, wait. Unread goes to the old unread page, it’s just that G,N goes to the combined one and I’m not finding a shortcut to get just the Topics.
I can’t say that I like the new combined new/unread feature, but let’s wait and see if is valid or elsewhere.

Josh, I got the same notification. Although I did have this thread bookmarked but the notification was dated the 13th July. Not sure if that was the reason for it. Everything else appears to be OK so on we go!
I notice that for some parts of the forum, the first post of every thread has a “Me Too” button.
I’m guessing this has been explicitly enabled, since not all categories are doing it. What do people think of it?
I believe this is an update to the “solved” plugin which allows users to mark a post as the solution. Now it also allows people to “me too” the OP in the context of “I’m also experiencing this issue.”
I’ll have to look at it more closely to see if that part of it is toggle-able.

The annoying behaviour on mobile that came in a few months ago where it was very difficult to quickly check who had liked a post seems to have been improved significantly.
Is the second icon (between the heart icon and the bookmark icon) new? It’s a upwards arrow ontop of a sort of container. It seems to mean download or share, but I never noticed it before.
Huh. I just got a Solution notification for Where can I read the documentation? - I wonder if we’re now getting them for any topic we’re tracking? That would sort of make sense
That’s the “link to this post” share button that used to look like a chain. It functions the same, they just changed the icon.

This is better UX IMO - if I tap a chain (link) icon on mobile I expect it to just copy the URL, while this icon should (and does) bring up the “share” modal.
I like this update, and while I’m here I’ll just also say that I really like Discourse. I know they do some dumb stuff sometimes, but all in all I’m very chuffed with how they’ve brought old-school forums back with modern sensibilities. It’s a nice piece of software! (Don’t @ me)
