I don’t know if I can ever release this, but I still want to make it as accurate as possible. If anyone has played a decent amount of Adventure and wouldn’t mind providing feedback on the accuracy of my port, or if you’ve never played it and want to give it a quick try, PM me.
I’ve made it available via browser. It should even work on mobile. ![]()
Does the easter egg credit Warren, you, or both of you?
(Also, this was Warren Robinette’s attempt to squeeze something inspired by Colossal Cave into a 4K Atari VCS cartridge, so it’s not entirely off topic.)
Just him. I played this game a ridiculous amount while growing up and it remains one of my all-time favorites. Even with probably hundreds of hours of playtime, I still learned a bit about how the game does things while developing this. I think that’s pretty cool.
I still have the game up if anyone wants to try it (only one taker so far).
Who doesn’t want to fight dragons that look like ducks, and curse loudly as the bat steals your stuff at the most inopportune moment?
Where is it?
You probably already know this but there’s still an active community of Atari 2600 developers. I discovered them a couple of years ago and downloaded the Adventure code and the Atari Dev Studio plugin for VS Code and spent some time tinkering with it.
