If you forgot to take a clue, it might be impossible to spawn another one
- I’ve documented 58 places to find clues, but once you find 50 clues, that’s it; you can’t find any more.
- As a result, if you find a clue but don’t take it, you may just have to retrace your steps to find the last lousy clue.

Compartment 50 is cute, but it doesn’t unlock the “real ending” or anything.
