They all said no. >x family They're outside. You are inside. It's better that way. >x porthole A small circle of murky green ocean behind thick murky green glass. Things outside the porthole wriggle and squirm and squint at you through jaundiced eyes. >open it Opening the porthole would fill the dome with both Ocean and Things. To be avoided. "They'll be here soon to pick us up, I'm sure," says Bob happily. >x things The Things outside the porthole, lit up by the Dome lights, wriggle and squirm and squint at you through jaundiced eyes. >x altar The flat top of the altar glows with a baleful green light. Bob pulls at D door. "This safety system is a nightmare," he grumbles, cheerfully. >touch it You feel nothing unexpected. You feel slightly light-headed. Bob tries the Gantry door. >push it The altar is an extremely heavy lump of stone. You can't budge it. >search it The flat top of the altar glows with a baleful green light. It's becoming a struggle to breathe. "I do miss a nice steak," sighs Bob. >open airlock You can't open the inner airlock door while the Farm door is closed! The air is getting stale. >open farm door You can't open the door to the Farm while D-door is closed! >open d-door You can't open D-door while the BioHaz door is closed! >open biohaz You can't open the BioHaz door while the Hades door is closed! "A pretty pickle and no mistake," booms Bob and slaps you on the shoulder painfully. >open hades It seems to be locked. >unlock hades That's not the way doors work in the BioDome! >i You are empty-handed. You are wearing a Bio suit. Bob tries BioHaz door. "Drat!" he says, cheerfully. >x me Your Bio suit hangs loosely on you. "Could do with a bit of fresh air," chuckles Bob. >ask bob about biohaz Bob yawns mightily. "It's getting a bit warm in here for conversation!" Bob tries BioHaz door. "Drat!" he says, cheerfully. >x me Your Bio suit hangs loosely on you. It's becoming a struggle to breathe. >x bob Bob is a beefy, well muscled man of indeterminate age. His hair is thinning above a slightly florid and perpetually cheerful face. You are so thirsty. All that water out there. It's enough to send you mad. >remove suit You take off the Bio suit. "Could be worse," says Bob with a cheery grin. "Could be raining!" He chuckles to himself and slaps you on the shoulder. >x biohaz The BioHaz door is closed. Your mouth is so dry. "Could do with a bit of fresh air," chuckles Bob. Bob rattles the BioLock door in its frame and shakes his head ruefully. >open biolock You can't see any such thing. >l Underwater BioDome Unpleasant and organic things swim past the closed porthole. The altar shines a faint green in the corner. The inner airlock door is closed. The BioHaz door is closed. D-Door is closed. The door to the Farm is closed. The Upper Gantry door is closed. The Hades door is closed. Your equipment locker is closed. Bob's locker is closed. In the centre of the room is a table. On the table is a bottle of porpoise milk. By the table is a small wooden stool. Bob ambles around the room. "Could be worse," says Bob with a cheery grin. "Could be raining!" He chuckles to himself and slaps you on the shoulder. >open upper You can't open the door to the Upper Gantry while the inner airlock is closed! "I'm a bit worried about the fish," whispers Bob. Then he looks puzzled for a moment. "Are porpoises fish?" >open locker Which do you mean, Bob's locker or my locker? >my It seems to be locked. Bob tries the Gantry door. >open bob's locker It seems to be locked. >x table The heavy table is firmly bolted to the floor to stop it moving about and squashing things when the sea is rough. On the table is a bottle of porpoise milk. The air seems to be getting very thin. Bob pulls at D door. "This safety system is a nightmare," he grumbles, cheerfully. >x bottle The bottle is filled with watery porpoise milk. "I'm getting pretty hungry," says Bob, and looks you up and down. Bob pulls at Farm door. "These doors!" he says, with a happy grimace. "I'll never get the hang of them! >take it Taken. "Could be worse," says Bob with a cheery grin. "Could be raining!" He chuckles to himself and slaps you on the shoulder. >open it It isn't something you can open. >drink it You take a tentative sip. It eases your thirst a little but still isn't pleasant. It tastes a bit.....fishy. You feel slightly light-headed. >give it to bob Bob pulls a face. "Not for me," he says and winks at you. "I can't stand that stuff." Your mouth is so dry. >x stool Just a small wooden stool. You know. For milking. Why there is only a single stool for a two man mission is a mystery. It's Bob's day with Stool today. >take stool "It's not your day for Stool," says Bob. He grabs it from you and slams it back down on the floor. The air seems to be getting very thin. >climb stool Little is to be achieved by that. Bob pulls at D door. Exploit ID : 7A 7A : There is an item in the game, whereby, if the player tries to get 'friendly' with it, it will allow the object to be takeable, which leads to all sorts of shenanigans with the game logic, up to and including, by placing it on the altar, putting the altar in a very odd state indeed. Exploit ID : 8G 8G: That cat gets tired far too easily. Exploit ID : 9C 9C : If the player manages to get onto the purple altar, it causes the game to end in a winning state. Fortunately, this is very very very unlikely. Nigh-on impossible, in fact. This exploit has now been fixed. Exploit ID : 19R 19R : If the player is on the small wooden stool and Bob is still in the room, the player can ask Bob to take the stool, with themselves on it. The player can then ask Bob to get on the altar. By doing so, it transports the player to the temporary object store of the game and the player can see all objects. Exploit ID : ext Game mode. There is a green flash and in a moment, all that's left of Bob is a greasy smear of smoke that quickly dissipates. Perhaps it was for the best. Hades door unlocks with a click. Waiting Room (on the small wooden stool) (in Bob) A place for temporary storage of game objects why not. Cheryl drifts around, looking a bit lost. "Oh, hello," she says, seeming a little bit surprised. "I wasn't expecting you." You can also see a lump of charcoal, a glass bottle, a circular glass disk, a round metal collar, a metallic shard and a small pile of grey ash here. Bob notices Cheryl and suddenly, it looks like he's been zapped by a lightning bolt. He stands up very straight and his face goes bright red. "Hullo," he stammers to Cheryl. "We haven't met. I'm..." He pauses and looks beseechingly at you as if for help. After what seems like an embarrassing eternity he finally finishes his sentence. "...Bob." Cheryl smiles at him shyly. "Oh, hi," she says. "I'm Cheryl. It's nice to meet you, I'm sure." Bob gulps and splutters as if lost for words. Cheryl also goes quiet. You could cut the tension in the air with a knife. >take all lump of charcoal: Taken. glass bottle: Taken. circular glass disk: Taken. round metal collar: Taken. metallic shard: Taken. small pile of grey ash: Taken. small wooden stool: That seems to belong to Bob. Universe Wrangler: That seems to belong to Cheryl. "It's good.." begins Cheryl and "I don't..." begins Bob at exactly the same time. "No, after you," says Bob quickly, and Cheryl also says "Please go on." again at exactly the same time. There is another long silence. This is painful. >kiss cheryl Cheryl purses her lips and says "Hey, it's not the end of the World. Yet." "Well," says Cheryl, eventually, "I'm glad there's someone here that looks like they know what they're doing." You can't help but feel that's a bit harsh. Bob puffs out his chest. "Well," he says, "now I've got someone qualified to help me, I'm sure getting out of here should be no problem." Again, harsh. How did this happen? >x charcoal A charred lump, black, and still slightly warm to the touch. Cheryl giggles. and blushes. "It's nice of you to say so. I'm from another Universe you know." "Is that so," says Bob. "That's interesting. I've often thought that it's great to meet people from other cultures." "That's so true! That's what I always think, too!" Cheryl gushes. Bob beams with delight. "We've got so much in common!" >x bottle Which do you mean, the glass bottle or the bottle of porpoise milk? >glass An empty glass milk bottle. Cheryl nods vigorously. "I bet between us we can work out how to get out of here," she says. "Yeah," replies Bob, "we're going to make a good team, I reckon. Come on, let's pull a plan together." It's like they've forgotten you're even here! They turn away and begin scouting around the room purposefully. >x disk A murky circular disk made from glass. >x collar A circular band of metal. >x shard A sharp fragment of metal. You are so thirsty. All that water out there. It's enough to send you mad. >x ash A small amount of fine wood ash. >hug ash That's just a thing, and would not respond well to your advances. >hug shard That's just a thing, and would not respond well to your advances. You would give anything for a steak and ale pie right now. "So, what's your life like in your Universe," Bob asks Cheryl out of nowhere. It had been getting a bit awkward to be honest. You're glad someone has broken the fraught silence. "Well, you know," replies Cheryl, hesitantly. "Nothing out of the ordinary. I'm an astronaut and physicist. I like shapes." She trails off. >hug collar That's just a thing, and would not respond well to your advances. "Oh?" says Bob. "That's really interesting." He looks around for a moment as if searching for inspiration. Then: "No...you know, family or anything?" "No," says Cheryl, quickly. It's like she was waiting to be asked. "No family. No one waiting for me at home." "Ah," says Bob. There is another silence. >wear it You put on the round metal collar. "And you?" asks Cheryl. Her voice is artless, but she glances sharply at Bob. "Do you have anyone waiting up top, worried about you?" Bob laughs in his boisterous way. "No, not me," he says. "I've never met the right person. Always been a lonely bachelor type." "Oh, that's good," says Cheryl almost as if she meant to think it rather than say it. She looks suddenly horrified. "Oh, no, I didn't meant that...you know...I meant..." >hug disk That's just a thing, and would not respond well to your advances. "Oh, yes, of course," interrupts Bob, "I know. You meant it's good that there's no-one needs to worry." Clever. You wouldn't have thought Bob had that much tact in him. Cheryl looks relieved. "You're right," she said. "It must be worse for the people who are worried than the people they are worrying about." "That's very true," says Bob. "You're very perceptive, Cheryl." >hug charcoal That's just a thing, and would not respond well to your advances. "You, too," replies Cheryl, nodding vigorously. "We're very similar people. It's nice to meet someone I can really talk to." "I've always said that," says Bob. "It's amazing, really, that we met. Bit of a coincidence, eh? Both ending up here." They wander away, talking animatedly. >l Waiting Room (on the small wooden stool) (in Bob) A place for temporary storage of game objects why not. Cheryl drifts around, looking a bit lost. "How about a cup of tea," Cheryl asks Bob. Bob shakes his head and looks stricken. "The water purifier is broken." >x cheryl Cheryl is a petite woman in her early 40"s. She looks like she was once a bit of a hippie. Frizzy brown hair cascades over a tie-die t-shirt all overlaid with a faint whiff of patchouli. To be honest, she doesn't look particularly pleased to be here. Cheryl is carrying a Universe Wrangler. "It's getting warm in here, isn't it," says Cheryl to Bob. >x wrangler It's a complicated looking thing, but you can't see it properly. Cheryl is very protective about it. Your mouth is so dry. >take it That seems to belong to Cheryl. >ask cheryl about wrangler "That's what got me into this trouble," says Cheryl. "Stupid thing." >ask cheryl for wrangler "I don't think so," says Cheryl. "This is my way out of here if I need it. Your stomach rumbles. "Have you had any ideas?" Bob asks you. He doesn't wait for an answer. Instead, he turns to Cheryl. "It's getting pretty hot in here, isn't it." Cheryl glances at Bob and flushes. "It is," she says, looking him up and down. "Perhaps we need to think outside the box." Bob looks confused. "It's a dome, not a box," he says. Cheryl just giggles girlishly. >i You are carrying a small pile of grey ash, a metallic shard, a circular glass disk, a glass bottle, a lump of charcoal, a bottle of porpoise milk and a Bio suit. You are wearing a round metal collar. "I think we can discount being rescued," says Cheryl. "We're going to have to work this out ourselves. Do we have any blueprints for the Dome?" Bob shakes his head. "No," he says. "I know it like the back of my hand, though." "Well," replies Cheryl, "I'm sure you'll work something out." >exit You get off the small wooden stool. Waiting Room (in Bob) A place for temporary storage of game objects why not. Cheryl drifts around, looking a bit lost. By the table is a small wooden stool. "It's this damn Event," says Bob. "Something must have happened up top. The Sub is never usually late." Cheryl looks suddenly angry. "It's not fair," she says, "I only came to this Universe for a quick visit and when I arrive, I find that this Event is happening. And now my Wrangler doesn't work, so I can't get home. If I find out who did this...." She leaves the threat hanging in the air. >exit You get out of Bob. Waiting Room A place for temporary storage of game objects why not. Bob ambles around the room. Cheryl drifts around, looking a bit lost. Bob flushes beetroot red and you can see beads of sweat appearing on his brow. He appears to be undergoing some sort of titanic internal struggle. "It's no good," he finally bursts out. "I can't lie to you, Cheryl. It was me! I leant on the red button." He pauses for a moment. "I'll understand if you never want to see me again. It was me that got us all into this. I'm sorry!" Cheryl goes very quiet. >x bob Bob is a beefy, well muscled man of indeterminate age. His hair is thinning above a slightly florid and perpetually cheerful face. "Well," says Cheryl, breaking a silence that's stretched on for far too long. "I suppose..." She bites her lip. "I suppose, that if this wasn't happening, I'd never have met you, Bob." The effect on Bob is electric. "We can fix it," he cries. "If we stick together we'll get through this." He reaches out and grasps her hand. "I won't let anything happen to us." >exit But you aren't in anything at the moment. Bob laughs heartily. Well," he says, bashfully, "I know it sounds silly, but..." He trails off for a moment, then, all in a rush: "I collect unusual porcelain miniatures of famous Elizabethan figures. It's just a hobby." It's enough to send you mad. >cli Warning: Adjusting the game state may result in an unstable (and short) gaming experience. cli ?travel 10 Value out of range. cli ?travel 1 Done. cli ?ext Game mode. Underwater BioDome Unpleasant and organic things swim past the closed porthole. The altar shines a faint purple in the corner. The inner airlock door is open. The BioHaz door is open. D-Door is open. The door to the Farm is open. The Upper Gantry door is open. The Hades door is open. Your equipment locker is open. Bob's locker is closed. The purple sludge blissoms glulkwise. In the centre of the room is a table. >u You can't go that way. The Exchange oozes something nasty. >x altar The flat top of the altar glows with a baleful purple light. On the stone altar is nothing. The Exchange droops and squeals out a little tune. >kill exchange You slap the Exchange and it begins to squeak and squeal in what sounds like a symphony of protest. >w The purple sludge gloozes after you. BioFarm The porpoises in the tank splash and swim in tight circles. The milking stations are all empty. The door to the BioDome is open. Opposite the tank, the fields are fallow and dusty. In the corner of the room, yellowing plants push through the broken glass of the greenhouse. A patch of purple sludge frotzes and glulps. You can also see a strange fruit here. >x plant The yellowing plants, overgrown and straggly, hold numerous long thin strange fruits. Your mouth is so dry. >i You are carrying four strange fruits, a bottle of porpoise milk, the game Hard Puzzle, a tired cat, a storage key, an internal nozzle, a suction cup, a circular glass disk, a lump of charcoal, a round metal collar, a lens, a small pile of grey ash, a metallic shard and a glass bottle. You are wearing a Bio suit. You feel slightly light-headed. >put ash on purple With a sad little fizzle, the small pile of grey ash is instantly dissolved. It seemed to like that - the little patch of purple sludge gloops and fribols gluxily at you. >put cat on purple The purple sludge sloors and glorrets at the tired cat. It chuffles away, zleeping vorply. >l BioFarm The porpoises in the tank splash and swim in tight circles. The milking stations are all empty. The door to the BioDome is open.
