You have had this uneasy feeling that someone is following you, but the park looks empty. You start heading for home and the feeling gets worse. Looking around nervously you cannot see anyone, but the nagging feeling will not go away. You can now see the park gates about 50 metres ahead of you, just some last bushes and trees to pass. Suddenly you are grabbed from behind and something is forced over your mouth and nose. That is the last thing you remember. You have no idea what happened but you seemed to be in an oblong box. >x me You are Jane Williams, a 34 year old Marketing Executive currently working at a printing company. The desire for food and drink is very strong at the moment. You have never felt so on alert. You are carrying nothing. West seems to lead to a kitchen and a store area is to the east. You look around the room very slowly, trying to take in every detail. You appear to be in old building, which could be a barn or a workshop. Perhaps it is an industrial unit or farm building. >x box Only just bigger than you the box is made from rough wood. The lid of the box is open at the moment. Inside you can see nothing. >x me You are Jane Williams and nothing in your life as a print marketing executive has prepared you for what is currently happening. Workshop You are in the workshop which is still a dirty sort of place with a bare earthen floor. To the north of the room is a wooden door. You can see a tall cupboard and next to it a workbench. In the centre of the room is your box. West seems to lead to a kitchen and a store area is to the east. "Hello Jane," a man remarks, "been exploring?" It doesn't appear that he is waiting for an answer. The individual standing is front of you is a short, over weight balding man. You would also most describe him as nondescript. A very worrying thought crosses your mind - he is not wearing a mask to hide his face. "I'm Peter, Peter Jones, and we are going to be friends." Using all your courage. "Why am I here?" you ask. Pausing for a moment he seems to realise that he did not answer your question. "I need you that's why you are here." What does he mean by need you? Time to keep calm. "I only have one rule for you. Stay in your box when I'm not around. Please tell me you are going to be a good girl?" He is expecting an answer. (You could say yes or no.) >no "No, why should I help you!" you protest. "Because it will end very badly otherwise," he replies coldly, "but let us not talk about that." You decide that saying no to him was not the right thing to do. "I'm sorry, of course I will behave." "Good, good," he remarks. He looks at the old overalls you are wearing. "Why have you put those on? I will dress you in something nice. Now take them off." You decide it is better to humour him so remove the overalls and hand them over. He looks at you briefly. "That's enough talk for now. I'm leaving for a little while but I will be back. Like I said, when I'm not here you must stay in your box. If I find you out of it you will have to be punished. Do you understand?" Peter asks. I think he is waiting for you to say yes or no. (You could say yes or no or climb into your box.) >no "No, why should I help you!" you protest. "Because it will end very badly otherwise," he replies coldly, "but let us not talk about that." You decide that saying no to him was not the right thing to do. "I'm sorry, of course I will behave." "Good, good," he remarks." "Now in please get in your box." You climb into the box and close the lid. You hear him walk across the room and leave. You hear what sounds like bolts being slid into place. As you lay in the box it hits you. You've been kidnapped! You feel like crying but try to tell yourself, "Steady girl, steady!" Your mind drifts to your boyfriend Tom, who must be wondering where you are by now. You have a little flat together, in fact you have only just moved in this month. You try to push him from your mind. You decide if you are going to live through this you must be strong. Your thoughts move to your family. Your father is a hard-nosed ex-marine corporal and was involved in many campaigns all round the world. He met your mum somewhere in Africia and she is a tough minded woman who was an aid worker at the time. Your elder brother John, has followed in his footsteps and is currently at Marine officer college. David, your baby brother is a judo champion. So you come from good, tough stock. You are a strong willed individual as Tom has found out several times to his cost! "I will get through this!" you tell yourself. Right, now you need to see if you can get out of this place. Your Box You are laying on your back in your oblong box. The surface above you is the closed lid. >i Confined as you are, it is impossible to think properly. >z Time passes. >z Time passes. >z Time passes. >open lid You open the lid and light floods into the box. >out You cannot move in the wooden-box. >l Wooden Box You are laying on your back in your oblong box. You are desperate for information and need to know more about him and what is going on. Probably better to start with some simple questions. (You could ask him about food, clothes, friends or kidnapped; or tell him about cold.) >ask him about clothes "Can I have my clothes back?" you ask. He looks you up and down before answering. "No, they got dirty and I had to throw them away. Be good and I will find you some new clothes," he replies. What has he done with your clothes? You must try to remain calm. >tell him about cold You must try not to sound nervious. "Peter, I'm cold. It is very cold in here," you remarks.
