It is very quiet outside, you can only hear the engine of your car and the wind whispering through the windows. The asphalt is poorly lit by the warm light of street lamps, but anything else is in total darkness. Only ten more minutes and you will be home. Your girlfriend Gaida yawns in the passenger seat. She is very tired, it is way past her bedtime. She asks you: "Peter did you have fun at the party?" You start thinking about the party. "Did I have fun at the party?" / /^ _________/ /__ _________ ___ \ \ * \ \.. Do you want to play the tutorial before starting the game? Type "Yes" or "No":yes Some hours earlier, at Bert's home for his birthday party. HOME PARTY 2024/2025 https://zeno-pillan.itch.io Hi Mik, how many years have passed since we were deskmates? An interactive fiction by Zeno Pillan Release 7 / Serial number 250507 / Inform 7 build 6M62 (I6/v6.33 lib 6/12N) Card game You are seated on the floor, facing a short black table. You are playing "cards against humanity" at Bert's birthday party. The room is clearly crowded, and the table is far too small for the fourteen guests here. However, the game only requires the table to collect cards and to draw, and not to actually host any part of the game so it is fine. You suddenly realize that you don't know how to play. Gaida is seated beside you. To play this interactive fiction you have to type commands after the prompt ">". To begin, try to type "TALK TO GAIDA" and press enter. Hopefully, she will help you! You can see Gaida here. >talk to gaida You whisper to Gaida "I forgot how to play!" and she patiently replies whispering to you "Ok, I have your back. Follow my instructions! Now is your turn to draw a white card. Try typing "TAKE CARD". >take card (the white card) You take a white card and add it to your hand. Gaida whispers "You should now have 10 white cards." Type "INVENTORY" (or simply "i") to check what you are holding. >i You are carrying: ten White cards You are doing great! Now is time to "EXAMINE WHITE CARD" to look at them. >x white card A white card of the "Cards against Humanity" game. Now the screen is pretty full with responses, isn't it? You can try the command "LOOK" to refresh the screen and look at the room you are in as if you were just entered. >look Card game You are seated on the floor, facing a short black table. You are playing "cards against humanity" at Bert's birthday party. Gaida tells you "Perfect, now wait for your turn. Players will play in clockwise order. We are at the southern side of the table. Type "EAST" now". You can see Gaida here. >e Players on the eastern side of the table each choose and drop a card in clockwise order. // \\ / \\\\ /// \\ /()\\ ||6 6| |δ δ|| ::б б: |6 6|\ |c J | ( ι $) :d ( b | L Ч| ||\o/| (=)/ \ єз |\O/|| Gaida whispers "You can move in any a cardinal direction to another room, just typing it. if you can't go in a direction (like is happening now in the tutorial) in this game you will look in the direction. To check your phone you can type "CHECK MOBILE PHONE" or use a shorter version of the command examine. Examine is one of the commands you are going to use the most: you can shorten it using the shortcut "x" and using only a part of the name (if there is only one phone or only one mobile in the room the game will understand you mean the mobile phone typing only one of those words). Try "X MOBILE" or "X PHONE". >x phone You reach into your pocket and realize that your phone is the one ringing. __ __ __ __ / \ / \ / \ / \ _/ | | | | \_ _/ | \ / | | \ / \ / O\ / /______\ \ /O O\ / \| O |/ \| You haven't recognized it because it is not an incoming call, instead is an alarm clock you don't remember setting in the first place. Everyone around you is asking you to turn off the alarm because it's annoying and won't stop on its own! >turn off alarm You turn off the Alarm. It had a label: AaammmlllLm**#2 so, you deduce that it was set up by mistake. Now let's get back to the game. It's your turn to play a card! >play card (the white card) You select a card and place it down. I could explain how the game progresses, with one player collecting all the white cards played this turn and choosing the funniest one to earn a point. However, those were the basic instructions needed to play this interactive fiction. I'll end the tutorial here and transport you to the same room a few minutes later when the card game is over. Let the story begin! You can type ABOUT for more information about the game, HELP for instructions on commands recognized by this story. Living room This part of the apartment is an open space. You are now in the part of the open space furnished as a living room. The room continues to the north. French doors take you to the terrace east. (Hey player, looks like Peter forgot to grab a gift for Bert! Track down Witney, she's the go-to for group presents, and I'm sure she'll let you chip in!) Joran is lying on the sofa. A low table is in the middle of the room. You played cards against humanity and the cards are scattered all over the table. A poster of "Machete" hangs on the wall. You can also see a cabinet (on which are a television and a PlayStation (in which is Mortal Kombat)) and Joran the Judoka here. >about HOME PARTY is an interactive fiction with four possible endings. Thanks Darren, I really needed your input to make the game more beginner-friendly. >x self You are Peter, the protagonist of this story. You came to Bert's birthday party with your girlfriend Gaida. Sometimes it seems like she likes you, while other times it feels like she doesn't consider you at all.
