When I was 8 years old, my uncle introduced me to Zork (and also, programming in BASIC, and personal computers in general). Loved it and played it on and off for years.
Looking back, I’m sure it had a positive influence on learning to read and using my imagination, and it also fueled my thirst for wanting to understand how a black box computer program works.
Today, at 44, I’m a full stack software engineer, with a wide variety of other interests, including music, habits, biology, futurism, and storytelling (which I suck at). I like data visualization and developing helpful platforms and tools, like Zork Playground explore and zil-to-json.
BTW, the IF games I’ve finished are: Zork 1-3, Wishbringer, Enchanter, Spellbreaker, and Dreamhold!
Look forward to meeting you!
