@mathbrush already has a helpful thread for all the XYZZY “best individual” categories here (Brainstorming some 'Best Individual' nominations for XYZZY 2022) which is great since those are always the trickiest categories to vote on.
Does anyone want to share or discuss what they’re considering for all the rest of the categories as well?
Especially interested in suggestions for stuff that’s slightly off the beaten path, like anything that wasn’t a top finisher in any of the main comps!
First round voting ends on December 16th for those that didn’t see it.
Here’s my own really quick initial ballot:
Best Game
Summary
Impossible Stairs
Archivist and the Revolution
Notes: My Best Game for 2022 is going to be Impossible Stairs. My second vote is closer. Amanda Walker has a bunch of good contenders for this.
Best Writing
Summary
Of Their Shadows Deep
According to Cain
Best Story
Summary
Impossible Stairs
The Good Ghost
notes: the good ghost is a very short game if people want to try out. I quite liked its simple, heart-warming story.
Best setting
Summary
Archivist and the Revolution
Prism
According to Cain
Notes: I recall being very impressed by the world-building in Prism.
Best Puzzles
Summary
Bones of Rosalinda
A Long Way to the Nearest Star
Improv: Origins
note: I think I might try to play Little Match Girl 2 before voting ends
Best NPCs
Summary
Lady Thalia and the Rose of Rocroi
Impossible Stairs
Notes: I’m pretty sure I didn’t play this Lady Thalia so it’s not my actual vote yet, but it probably has great NPCs nethertheless.
Best Implementation
Summary
Bones of Rosalinda
