I mean, given that there are Japanese parser games that take input in Japanese, I don’t know if there’s any point in trying to suss out whether the Mystery House bootleg or other early Japanese parser games that took input in English “count” or not.

          I was considering whether or not there might be similar cases in languages that don’t have a significant parser tradition of their own, but I suppose you’re right and it would probably be a marginal case even given that context.

          No, that’s a fair point! I would be interested to know if there are things like that in other languages.
I’d be surprised if that wasn’t true of most languages.
