Hmmm… now I kind of want a black t-shirt with the text “It is pitch black, you are likely to be eaten by a grue.” Embroidered in the same black as the shirt in either a retro terminal font or a retro fantasy font, the more the text blends into the background visually while easily read by touch, the better. You know, really put the feel in feely while referencing one of the genre’s most famous quotes, just how helpless text adventure PCs tend to be in the dark, and a bit of a joke surrounding color… Now, is there any quote that would be appropriate for a purple-on-purple shirt?

Actually, there have been scratch-n-sniff feelies, and glow-in-the-dark feelies, but have there been feelies in which you can only (or are supposed to only) get the information by touch, popping out braille-style?
Unpractical, I guess, it’d undoubtedly be also visible up to a point.

And I can confirm that standard braille is easily read by sight. Also, I’m reminded of how the Gen 3 Pokemon Games used Braille as part of the puzzles involved in catching the Regis.
I wonder if texture might work better than embossing for making information purely touch-based. I frequently find myself thinking about using patch works of different fabric types to represent different colors of a design(e.g. an American Flag made of blue denim, white linen, and red flannel), but if you had two different fabric types dyed the same color, would texture differences necessarily be visible without getting so close you’re rubbing nose and/or forehead on the fabric?

I’ve cleared out my YouTube back log under 80 minutes and have a single digit number of videos under 100 minutes left there in.
I just watched (experienced?) the Sigur Ros: Ára immersive experience and I think it’s arguably the most brilliant thing I’ve ever seen. Maybe I’m being dramatic, but it was genuinely so beautiful and well executed. If ever you have the chance to go see it, I highly recommend it.

My food stamps came in yesterday and I was able to schedule a grocery delivery in time for a late lunch yesterday. Which was really good because I miscalculated some things and ran out of brown rice, chia seeds, and milled flax seed several days ago, and had to ration the last of my pinto beans at half my usual consumption and ate the last of the onld pinto supply with lunch yesterday. Result, I spent a few days eating ditalini without beans for supper. Was also running critically low on seasoning(used the last of my lemon pepper Tuesday night, the last of the shrimp bouillon powder with today’s lunch, have only one cube left each of chicken and beef bouillon left from the old supply… After yesterday’s delivery, I should be good on everything but ditalini and rice through at least the end of August as far as my baseline diet is concerned.

Tonight I wrapped up a Vampire: the Masquerade tabletop game that I’d been running since July 2022. I don’t think I’ve ever successfully concluded a game of that length before.

Its payday and as I’m paying my bills, I notice the amount of my payment on a small loan that goes towards the principle instead of interest has broke the $100 mark and that I have less than a year left to pay off this loan.

The forecast for today, tomorrow, and Saturday call for thunderstoorms and temperatures never getting out of the 70s F. Provided the storms don’t knock out the power(a rarity today, a constant of thunder storms when I was a kid), this is the best weather my locale has had in I think months and I was thinking I’d have to wait until November for weather this nice. and even beyond Saturday, there is only one day for the next week forcasted to break 90.

Islamist terror attack at the CSD in Berlin: A van crashed into the crowd.
One of my daughters left the CSD half an hour early to study for her classes. Suddenly, the terror feels incredibly close.
So, my cellular provider recently completed a merger with another provider, and for the first time in what feels like forever, it opened up the opportunity to switch to a cheaper plan. Got my first bill under the new plan today and my total bill has dropped by $15 and some change. Almost makes up for needing to learn a whole new website to check my account online and the merger coming with ditching a functional touch-tone automated system for checking my account over the phone with a BS voice controlled system… Undecided on which option is going to be more convenient for paying my bill going forward(hated using the old website since online payments didn’t show up on my online banking until the next day when phone payments were instant, but voice controlled automated phone systems are a pain in the anatomy compared to a touch tone system… Also, the new website has downgrade two factor from being able to get a code via spam e-mail to having to get a code via spam text(though thank turing getting the code to log-in doesn’t require replaying to a spam text like I had to do to get the code to set my password on the new website… A whole fish market to the side of the head for the idiot who invented texting and a slap with a fish to everyone who insists on using texts as a way of inconveniencing consumers and calling it security.

I got sent home early from work today so I spent the afternoon doing a job I’ve been putting off for thirty years.
From 1983 until 1993, my brother and I drew a comic strip together. It was a very surreal and silly comic about a family called the Greens.
One of us would draw a panel or two and then pass it over to the other to finish it. The characters looked slightly different (but still recognisable) from one panel to the next, because it was boring to keep drawing them looking the same way. Eventually the style evolved, becoming stranger and more stylised. We stopped drawing boxes around the panels early on and eventually stopped drawing speech bubbles around the dialogue too.
For the first six or seven years we collected the pages together in “Greens Books”; these were A5 booklets with cardboard covers and no staples. But the best, funniest stuff was done when we were at college and somehow we never got around to collecting it into “Greens Books”. For the past thirty years it has sat around as a pile of paper in a box, all mixed up and in the wrong order.
So that’s what I’ve been doing this afternoon; collating the loose pages into new Greens Books. Each book contains between 3 and 5 sheets of A4 paper folded into A5. Originally, there were 37 Greens Books and now there are 52. That’s more than five books a year for ten years!
