And now I’m wondering if there are any parser games where you play as a cat… or games where you switch between playing as a cat and playing as a human that plays around with how the size difference renders the same environments very different to interact with.

Oh don’t worry, I am certainly going to. I had this idea for an Ectocomp game 2 years back which was centered around trousers with pockets that transported items between them and each had a size limit. I couldn’t figure out the mechanics fully though…

Towers of Hanoi? Wouldn’t a bag packing puzzle be more in line with the Soma Cube? As for can of worms, wouldn’t an overstuffed bag that explodes on opening be more like a can of snakes?
Though, how to implement a bag packing puzzle in text to make it enjoyable and so that carrying everything you need so long as you pack efficiently is less annoying that an annoyingly small inventory where you can carrying a fixed number of arbitrarily sized/shaped items and the puzzle is what to get rid of to make room…

It’s officially the Christmas season, so I’ve been enjoying lots of christmas Music, butter cookies, and there have been several days where its been cool enough to enjoy hot tea and the dunking of butter cookies in said hot tea… sadly, I’m out of cookies and I’ll have to wait until my food stamps come in to grab another tin.
Also, been doing some winter cleaning today… with any luck, I’ve permanently solved the stack of boxes and buckets that occasionally falls over for good…Still have a ways to go to clear out enough stuff to make vacuuming my bedroom worth while and I’m technically taking a break, but I feel like I’ve made meaningful progress today.
Also, recently recieved this year’s dice advent-ure calendars from Black Oak and added my first dreidels to my dice horde… and realized a bit of word play potential with the word dreidel(they are 4-sided spinning tops, functionally d4s, but the word contains drei, the German for 3)… haven’t figured out a good joke to connect this with Santa including san, the Japanese word for 3…

Purple is also my favorite color… and a big part of why amethyst is my favorite gemstone and purpleheart is my favorite wood. Never had my nails painted, and I can’t stand the smell of most nail polishes, but purple would be on my short list if I ever were to paint my nails.
Anyways, the weather has been nice lately, letting me enjoy lounging around in my slipper socks and long atheletic pants and cocoon myself in blankets at night without needing to blass the AC.
Also, my joints aren’t aching anywhere near where they were yesterday.
Also did some origami recently, making a trio of two-tone coasters from construction paper(the coasters are square, about 4" on a nedge and each side is divided into two right triangles… I picked red and green, blue and white, and purple and yellow as the color combos to fit with the season… Also made a modular cube to match with red opposite green, blue opposite white, and purple opposite yellow, each face a solid color… and even modified the folding directions so I didn’t need to make squares from the rectangles the paper came in… Also, I’ve recently realized I know ways of making an origami cube from 1, 2, 3, 6, or 12 squares and find myself wondering what other values of n are possible… and if there are better methods for 2 and 6 then the ones I know…
For 1 square, there’s the traditional waterbomb moduel.
For 2 squares, there’s a classic, open top box that can be modified into cubic by folding the square in thirds and by making two, one slightly smaller than the other, you can put the smaller in the larger like a box and lid to form a complete cube… This one gets dinged because folding in thirds is a bit tricky and the need for slightly different sized squares.
For 3, if you accordian fold a pair of opposite corners towards a center diagonal, there’s a point at which you can fold the resulting squashed hexagon perpendicular to the accordian folds to form a pair of hinged squares and a pair of triangular flaps hinged to the squares opposide their sharded edge, three of which can be joined to make a square… with two tone origami paper, this ends up with a nice pattern of a diagonal square in the center of each face.
the cube I made is technically 12 squares, folding each square in half parallel to edges, slipping squares together in pairs to form 2:1 rectangles with 4 layers, then folding up the ends of the rectangle to form flaps… full instructions at
and the 6 square cube is a modification of the 12 square, simply folding each square in thirds in a zig-zag and then folding the 3:1 rectangle in thirds to form flaps. Again, I’d ding this one for the difficulty of folding thirds. I didn’t have to cut my 12 rectangles down to squares because as long as you have a square after folding up the flaps on each unit, the length of the flaps doesn’t matter much as long as the rectangle before folding up the flaps is 3:1 or less and the flaps are long enough to anchor properly… iif anything folding from rectangles folded in half long wise meant my flaps went deeper into the pockets when assembling the cube…
