Your son’s win is awesome. Congratulations!
My grandfather passed away this morning. He’d been declining for a long time now. But it happened in just about the best way possible. He was comfortable, surrounded by family, settled in, and free from some of the awful things that had been happening in his life recently. I think all in all that’s a positive.
@Draconis My condolence! If I consider that we all must die, I think it’s a positive that he didn’t die alone and in pain.
@rovarsson Great, congrats!
I beat my mother and grandfather at Scrabble for the first time when I was 16, and my grandfather cried with joy. It was such a tremendous feeling to see that pride. I’m so pleased your son is feeling that now.
That very same grandfather of mine died like this when he was 102. He was ready, everything was peaceful and painless, and it was a day of love for us all. But it was still hard and I still miss him. I’m glad your grandfather had a good death, but I’m sorry you lost him.
My condolences as well.
My wife’s 96 yo father passed in early Sept. His memorial wasn’t until Thanksgiving a couple couple weeks ago. It is still tough losing their leadership and guidance.
Today’s positive thing for me.
Dick Van Dyke turned 99 years old today and is still going strong,
as you can see in this beautiful and touching video:
My condolences, Daniel.
From Italy,
dott. Piergiorgio.
My condolences for your loss.
My Condolences as well. I never knew any of my grandparents(the paternals died long before I was born, maternal grandmother died while my mom was pregnant with me and maternal grandfather died when I was about 2 and I have no episodic memories prior to age 4), but I’ve buried both parents and both siblings, and losing people to the Final Enemy never gets easier.
Had an early Christmas celebration with the in-laws today. Niece is nearly 5 now and gets more excited about Christmas every year.
My condolences on the loss of a loved one.
Lovely family lunch today and now a nice quiet evening in front of the TV.
Nice run with my club this evening around all the light displays in the local area.
The little burb where we live NE of Houston has noticeably more displays this year. They look nice.
We are going to be traveling to visit my daughter in north Alabama for the holidays. It will be nice to experience the holidays with my granddaughters.
I’m also sorry for your loss. And would that we all go with half as much dignity.
Went and had some photos taken today for my upcoming milestone birthday.
Christmas food delivery arrived today. We are laden with festive snacks.
Enjoying old episodes of Top of the Pops on BBC4 this week.
Got the biggest Christmas surprise in years today. Recieved my parcel from a Christmas Dice Kickstarter from a creator who’s real big on community building and all the good things associated with the holiday season, and having mentioned in the comments of that kickstarter that I wasn’t expecting any gifts this years and mentioning a Raspbery Pi 5 was something I would like to have, the parcel contained not only the three sets of Christmas dice that were the focus of the campaign and an extra secret santa set, but a Raspberry Pi kit with the whole 9 yards, the Pi itself, an enclosure with fan and heatsinks, microSD card, ac adapter, USB and HDMI cables, even a mouse and keyboard.
Needless to say, my Pi 3 is about to be retired as my portable IF machine.
What an exceptional gift.
The RPi 5 is excellent for text based IF development (and any other programming for that matter).
Congratulations!
