Exploring Copenhagen! Never been to Denmark before. It is cold and beautiful.
Cute outfit today, and I got a lot of progress rearranging the room I was assigned to after the divorce started. It’s starting to feel more like home.
Text description of the outfit.
A dark gray, form-fitting sweater with extra-long sleeves—long enough to cover the hands—with knitted grooves that follow shape of the torso and limbs. A sentimental pink scrunchie is wrapped around the right forearm, over the sweater sleeve.
Around the waist is a black, knee-length kilt, decorated with straps, and highlighted with rivets and rings of silver. A large, jagged-looking zipper runs up one side, and cargo pouches hang from the left and right sides of the hips.
The fashion gods smiled at me, and in preparation for a wedding I have to go to in December I somewhat randomly ordered a pair of dress pants that arrived today and they miraculously fit my short hobbity legs and body quite well!
I know blind-ordering fitted clothing without trying it on first can be a disaster in many cases so very pleasantly surprised. I was prepared to return/exchange them at least once.
Dad came over for a surprise quick visit and chat- aimless stuff, the weather, health, snow boots and winter tires, lights and safety of paths. Forecast predicts snow sometime soon, rather than nail bitingly close to Christmas. Lights up along the bannister.
He wound up staying over for dinner- my plate was too salty, and he casually insisted on swapping ours. Some false starts with when he was actually heading out, but he just paused, laughed, and reasoned that ‘well hugs are good for you anyways’ so I got doubles. Total win.
It was really affirming to have a handful of people hold space for me with regards to an issue that’s been ongoing for quite some time- and the eagerness with which they not only were really emotionally supportive, but also took the initiative on proactive steps moving forwards to help, without being asked. That sort of compassionate community care was so surprising and so lovely to be on the receiving end of. It was also super sweet to hear about how my work had left a strong impression with some of them. Much warmth.
Took some time to scrub my ring collection clean, and it’s nice to see them all sparkly and shiny.
Sweetpea is currently the longest completed work I have out, as far as I can recall- and I just noticed while implementing a bunch of text and tinkering with the content warnings page, that Cuspid has surpassed it at being currently around ~13k words long (still far from finished, but making good progress.) That was pretty exciting to realize.
Demon squirrel!
well, randomly ordering a suit for a formal event (a marriage…) is something whose widen my eyes and raise up my hair, but everyone know that I literally live in a totally different league on outfits for special occasions…
Best regards from Italy,
dott. Piergiorgio.
A shiny pokémon!
Wedding anniversary in Copenhagen today. We tired ourselves out exploring the Christmas markets so the husband managed to hunt down takeaway pizza!
My son passed his exam for fifth kyu in karate!
Hey, that’s pretty cool! I like martial arts. Will probably start to learn some in spring 2025. (Am improving my constitution a bit before that.)
In further oatmeal experiments: having enjoyed the hot chocolate mix stirred in last time, I went off of that basic idea. Melted in two squares of chocolate, sloshed in milk, two shots of espresso, a splash of vanilla extract, white sugar, and microwaved it to get it to the texture I wanted. This is freaking delicious. It’s fun trialling out random stuff we have laying around.
Also, the melanistic grey squirrels are apparently only common in my area and some of the Northern states- it’s a natural fur variation that dominates local populations. It’s far rarer to see a rusty brown or a greyish coloured one, and I could anecdotally count on my hands the times I’ve seen those over the five years I lived near major colonies.
Tabitha took a picture of an estate jewellery table and I got to go absolutely ham infodumping on my best assessment of the pieces on display and that was a fantastic thrill. So much fun.
I think banana would be awesome with this.
You people make me craving for chocolate. Especially with espresso and vanilla… Nice!!
Edit: Something positive: I found a gratis file of Planetfall! Backdraw: I only found it seconds after I posted here about compiling it from sourcecode. So I had to delete the topic. But to find it is good anyway.
Did you stop in Christiania too? XD
All the talk of sweets is driving me crazy. And, I am on my “new lifestyle” diet! This season and all of the deserts listed here are about to make me fall off the wagon!
