What's one positive/neutral thing that's happened today?

I’ve been messing around in Juno: New Origins and created a little sport for me to play! :rocket: Might try to create a YouTube video explaining it, depending on how much I’m able to handle the video creation process.

Today I was reading on the front porch, and the dog was sleeping at my feet, and a butterfly landed on her nose. I watched this butterfly walk around a bit on the dog’s nose before she EXPLODED out of sleep and started barking and spinning in circles. And this cowboy butterfly is calmly riding her nose while she’s freaking out about it, but I don’t think she can see it, just feel it. And after a minute the butterfly hops to the top of her head between her ears and the dog goes back to sleep, and the butterfly stays on her head for a long time, doing that thing where it sits and opens and closes its wings. Then it finally flew away. I thought, this is a metaphor for something, but I’m not sure what.

In overtly positive news, I put on a dress that was too tight last year and it fit today.

It’s somemeowdy’s birthday today, and one of the co-meows wrote up a cute personality quiz with a submission form for kind messages to pass along to them to brighten up their day. I sent in the following: “Happy birthday! You’re a light in many others’ lives, and your kindness radiates out to touch so many more than you know. I’ve been glad to get to know you. Your casual compassion and easily forthcoming joy came into my life at a very low point, and I’ll always remember it. Thank you, for being you. Stay sparkly! xx”

It was a really sweet gift idea from their friend, and it’s always nice to reflect on how the people in your life, no matter how tangential, have had an impact on you.

I didn’t think I’d be able to manage it for a moment there, but my kid’s running a fever- and while I can’t scoop him up as easily as I once did, when he was a newborn and nestled against my shoulder while he slept- and boy do new babies do a lot of sleeping, I managed to pull off carrying him up the stairs to plop him into bed when he fell asleep on the couch.

I looked absolutely ridiculous while doing so- a princess/bridal carry, while crunched up like a goblin to use the strength in my legs/knees to prop him up rather than relying solely on my arms, and mostly lunging up the steps in a race against the clock, but I can still haul the kid’s dead asleep weight around, so that’s fantastic, seeing as I’m injured and he’s also as tall as up to my neck, (he’s always been a tall/big boy for his age, and I am 5’0, so.)

I chased a Texas roach across the kitchen floor last year trying to stomp it to oblivion. I lost it and ended up in the hospital with a bump on the head and shoulder that took therapy for six weeks. The roach won and got away. It and all of its progeny are probably still laughing…

Learning new cycles on my washing machine (only been using this thing for about six years ). I know it sounds boring but it’s genuinely really useful as I’m trying to take more care of clothes and make them last a bit longer.

Dee, try to avoid red garments when experimenting with washing machines…

Positive 1: My two day hang over subsided. I’m getting too old for this crap.
Replacing the neutral with another positive: My cat took her meds with less resistance this time around. Here’s to hoping it’ll go easier on both of us going forward!

I had an accident Sunday and ended up in the ER. Long story short: I gashed my forehead open on an industrial plastic garbage bin of the type you roll out to the curb for pickup. One tetanus shot, an Rx for antibiotics, and ten stitches later I was released and am okay.

The positive part is I had my Apple Watch on so I didn’t need to take time to locate my phone while also trying to stop copious bleeding so I could call for help - in this case my cousin who is an RN and drove me to the ER. So my “what happens if I slip in the shower and nobody knows?” paranoia was not completely unfounded.

Also, if I need a Halloween costume this year, I’ve got a head start on a Frankenstein’s monster head scar.

@HanonO You seem to be out off the most trouble now. But best wishes to you anyway.

Good thing for me today: I got a really delicious vegetable tart, similar to a quiche.

First go sitting out in our back garden with our new folding table. Lovely spot among very well established plants and bushes. Very calming. It’s only taken us 20 years to get out here and enjoy it! Given I’m mostly housebound and largely bedbound now the outdoor table is going to be a really good escape for me, especially on hot days. I was reading today, and also brainstorming IFComp game cover art! Which is never my strongest skill :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

A white garden table and green garden chair beside a grey harled wall and on the other sides masses of large green leafy plants. On the table are a number of magazines and books, including a large print The Fall of Numenor by Tolkien.

Been getting back into bullet journalling, and finally getting around to making use of some highlighters I had bought before I got really deep into fountain pens. Nice to sink back into a familiar set up, and it’s fun using up the pretty, mild colours. Tracking a few things (hours of sleep, medication, writing, journalling.)

Good luck with the bullet journalling! I’ve been starting to use a Hobonichi day planner/journal this year. A5 sized, and I pretty much free write it, rather than grids etc. I find it very relaxing writing it each day. It also helps me plan for what I want to do in the coming day and week. I have a dedicated fountain pen for it :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: But yup, a real treat. Have fun!

(sorry for all the multiple posts - I’m a bit spaced out clearly today for managing the forum well!)

I finally figured out how to make trizbort.io export my entire map to an image instead of just a portion of it!

So now I can have all four floors of the house in a single file!

Finished up my coverart for the three Neo-Twiny jam entries I’m planning on submitting this month:

That first pic looks like it should be called ‘the roll of the dice’ not ‘in the cards’ (I don’t see a card anywhere.)

Given that there is a saying that goes “not in the cards”, this might actually be an intentional choice, rather than a mistake.

I just learned what a ramdisk is for Linux! There have been a few games I’ve wanted to make which use the Linux terminal environment as its interface, but the amount of read/writes occuring on files had concerned me. Using a temporary ramdisk would solve this, though!
