What's one positive/neutral thing that's happened today?

I would if I was there! Don’t think I wouldn’t! :relieved:

I was crushed recently when I’d forgotten I’d foolishly stuck my beloved TWSBI 580AL (for those as may not know, that means it looks just like the middle pen in fos1’s photo) in a sweatshirt pocket, then grabbed the sweatshirt and it flew out and fell on the floor and the cap broke. I didn’t recall ever having seen caps alone for sale, but I went web searching and people said you could just email TWSBI and get one for $4. And I emailed on a Saturday and got a response literally a minute later. And the price had gone up to $5, but it arrived very promptly and my TWSBI was saved.

This was a positive thing that happened last month. :grinning:

Feeling a little better after last night.

Warning for scary medical stuff behind the spoiler:

I’ve long suspected I might be a part of the population whose metabolism is a bit odd when it comes to medications: often requiring much tinier doses than prescribed for things like controlled pain relief, and in particular, codeine when I’ve received it for severe bouts of bronchitis or pneumonia.

Part of it, I imagine, isn’t helped by being a petite woman- but last night confirmed to me I need to be more conservative with codeine, even if I had been following the pharmacy and doctor’s orders to a tee. I know some people metabolize it into morphine more efficiently than others- and last night I apparently was not independently protecting my airway. Feeling better since it’s cleared my system: but ough, scary.

One of the only people from my middle school to highschool era of friends who was genuinely nice to me recently got back into contact with me!!! He ran into my mom while he was working and because she didn’t have her hearing aids in, she didnt hear him and nor did she recognize him. So he sort of followed her around the store asking if I was alive and she never answered so he freaked out and got my number from someone to call me lmao. I’m really happy, honestly! He was and still is such a sweet guy! Hopefully I get to hang out with him soon!

Glad you feel better, dollie! That’s also a good thing to know for the future, what an interesting little genetic mutation! You’re so neat.

Oh yeah, no worries- the city is still ravaged by the monster freak snowstorm, so a relative has been WFH (and doesn’t work on weekends) which means they’ve been on babysitting silly little guys duty, since I got scooped up and plonked down onto the daybed as they crunch away at budgets and massage wording on a proposal for their work.

I’ve got three blankets (all pink!) and one pink bunny plushie for company, and I’ve just been napping on and off. They even braided my hair to keep it tidy, since I’ve been in bed for ages and ages, and I was getting frustrated about it tangling. I’ve had so much soup and the yummiest orange juice ever! But I’ve been basically on bed rest for yesterday and today and I feel a lot better, the sleep definitely helps.

We just bought a chest freezer, a big one, an obnoxiously big one, and I’m unseemly satisfied with it.

It’s 21.7 cubic feet, or 614.5 liters, and it’s a big honkin’ boy. Did I mention that it’s huge!?

Oh, the cornucopia of clearance meats, self-cut deli meat, and homemade oven-ready prepared casseroles and dinners this shall hold is glorious to behold.

My conservative math (with electricity usage factored in as well) shows us breaking even on food savings in about 2 years, not counting the savings in time and general increase of convenience.

Did I mention he’s a big big boy!?

ETA: This is the best AI could do with “heavenly chest freezer.” Sorta weaksauce:

(Ours is bigger anyway.)

I saw the building Mozart was born in today, which is the closest I’ve been to Art since I saw Cats (2019) in theaters.

Humanity may never be so close to Art again.

Oh, that’s so good. A little chest freezer was the first thing I bought once I was out of college and had space for one. And now with the farm and raising our own animals we have… five? No, six. None quite that big though.

I got my piano tuned today! Haven’t been playing for a while because it was out of tune, but I was waiting for the weather to really switch over to being colder and having lower humidity in the house… and then it was December and I thought, nah, he’ll be too busy. But no, he came right out.

I’m starting to suspect that the way you feel about pink is the same way I feel about purple.

It’s my favourite colour! If I can buy it in pink, I usually try to! Like, my diaries, my fountain pens, my blankets, my bedsheets, my pillowcases, my laptop case, my phone case, my pop socket, most of my clothing, my waterbottle, my mouse, my keyboard, my plushies, my laptop stand, and so on. It makes me happy.

Cats come in pink too.

The kitty’s black and white except for its nose. How about an entire cat the shade of pink of that cute nosey-wosey?

I used to know a girl who had one of those Sphinx cats actually- but it always seemed to feel a bit cruel considering we live in Canada, and he always seemed to be a bit cold. And he had to have tiny socks on constantly or he’d cry when walking on the kitchen tile. His sweaters were very cute though!

I used to think Sphynxes were grotesquely, hard-to-look-at ugly. Then a bookstore Sphynx cat came up to me to say hi and basically act like a cat and about 15 seconds later I thought it was cute.

A perfect nightmare-inducing image to come across just before I go to bed. Pretty sure I’ll be meeting wrinkled-brain-cat in my dreams tonight.

Meanwhile I’m not sure what it says about me that my immediate reaction was “AWW SWEET LITTLE WRINKLY BABYYYYY!!” I guess the cat brainwashing regime has been successful.

Oh my god, I’m dying just imagining this. Poor little boy!
