I finished it, but no matter how many times I played, I kept getting the bad ending.
It’s just like life
Is this the first fan game based on a 2024 IFComp entry?
Haha! My wife and her collaborator made a knitting pattern creation app that will make patterns based on Conway’s Life: https://stitchwizard.app/
It, fortunately, does not have a lose state.
My geekometer just maxed out.
anyway, I feel that as intentionally the worst of the lot, is on the verge of failing, because honestly I feel is now a serious candidate for the Golden Banana…
Best regards from Italy,

What if… what if the discussion that’s been generated by this game is the interactive component? What if the real game is the f̶r̶i̶e̶n̶d̶s̶ complaints we made along the way?
whoa dude
I adapted the game to parser format: Phil Riley - UninteractiveFiction by Leah Thargic
Phil Riley with the Uninteractive Fiction adaptations! You’re on a roll!
I’m a bit surprised to see that nobody has commented on the a capella choral “sad trombone” sound effect that plays when you click the “Play” link.
It won’t replay if you refresh the page on the “You lose” page. I’ve attached the MP3 for your convenience and listening pleasure.
sad-trombone.mp3.zip (133.9 KB)
People are calling this game “bad,” but IMO, the game is a short joke, and, in my opinion, it succeeds. It’s genuinely funny, which is why we can enjoy laughing about it here.
It’s absolutely worth ten seconds of your time to play it, especially combined with the author-provided PDF walkthrough.
*ahem*
Curious that there is no MP3 downloaded by the page, just base 64 encoded audio. And yet here you are with an MP3. Suspicious.
I hope you’re not suspicious that I authored the game! I assure you I didn’t author the game or communicate with the author.
I just went into Chrome Dev Tools, found the <audio>
element, right-clicked on its data:
URL, and clicked “Open in new tab.” Chrome played the sound with built-in audio player controls. I clicked the “…” menu, clicked “Download,” zipped up the MP3 file, and posted it here.
No I was not really suspicious.
