The Bat by Chandler Groover

Gunderson seems to be James Gordon-like insofar as she’s there on official business and Barbara Gordon-like in that she’s using her wits.

If Gunderson was wholly Barbara, I’d expect her to either have a secret Batgirl-like identity or be wheelchair-bound. If she was entirely James Gordon, I’d expect her to try and signal Bryce for help … which would have been pretty funny but wouldn’t have lined up with the plot.

Or maybe CMG had neither in mind specifically, and it was just natural to use the surname as a reference to both characters.

Oh, and in the silent film “The Bat”, which also provides the image on game poster, there’s a Detective Anderson, so maybe it is a mash-up of the names.

I thought Gunderson was meant to be a reference to Marge Gunderson from Fargo, doesn’t she also wear a deerstalker type hat?

Doing some late catchup on reviews, which will probably be brief both because of the time that has passed and because most things I would say have already been touched on.

I found this to be a well-guided game; everything was clued well enough to be frustration-proof but still puzzling. I did feel the time pressure at first when guests started arriving, but at a certain point it became clear that the chaos was the point and I felt able to lean into it. I also thought the ending was fitting enough; it’s one thing to be unintentionally difficult and another to be unappreciative after… all of that! Plus the metajoke.

Also, in my head Bryce Wyatt is voiced by Matt Berry and yells “BAT” at unexpected times.

Now I’m trying to think back and wonder exactly … why did I say that? I’m honestly confused with past me.
