/Just like last year - this thread is designed for ST26 authors and participants who wish to share favourable word about a game or two. From what we have learned, it is always a good thing to play a couple of games before leaving a comment. And for the sake of our welcomming community we should be always kind, fair and not forget to hide anything which may contain a spoiler/.
23 Minutes by George Larkwright
I used my smartphone to play through (to defend myself - I read the advice not to just after I had finished) and I enjoyed it all the same. The game playthrough took me longer than 23 minutes but not much more. Being a second generation immigrant myself, I found strings in this game-poem which resonated in me - just as I did when watching Encanto or reading Paul Auster’s Invention of Solitude. I wondered in times about the street. Had I been there when last time in London? I felt being lirerarily dragged into the main character/the lyrical subject who felt to me (and I hope we can afford as much overinterpretation as we fancy - being just amateur players
) - in times - like an antihero from Heller´s Something Happenned (and similarilly so, I did not mind any length of time reliving their story and every single parenthesis which always reveal more and more about the character´s self).
Thumbs-Ups
For an enthralling way one can pass half an hour walking in the skin of a total stranger.
And for Myryam.
Asking for more…
time: both for the hero and for me to get to know him better before the game inevitably ends.
Strings: a (bug)folk song by Tabitha & baezi
I just played through this, and it’s very charming and well-done. The setting is intriguing, and the attention paid to different kinds of bugs and their anatomies add interesting details — plus, the personalities to the NPC bugs are varied and well-integrated with the puzzles involving them.
The description claims “merciful puzzles”, and it’s true. I did hit a fail-end-game once, but it was easy to UNDO and see what I could differently in the future. It took about an hour to get to a winning condition; I may play around to see any other winning conditions.
Well-written, creative, and fun to play! ![]()
