So I put together a list of engines/development systems

This is now up on the IFWiki: http://www.ifwiki.org/index.php/Engine_List

I had tried to put it in the thread first, but the table was way too large horizontally. There was just no way to fit it within the confines of the OP without making some major concessions.

If the mods wouldn’t mind, I would like to keep this thread here for potential future discussion.

This is a great thread. I had pinned it even before I knew you were coming back to update it! (I think it was also stickied on the previous board.)

I’m not sure if you’re keeping the list updated, but I noticed that the link for Aiee no longer works and Alan was updated (to v3.0 beta6) on 15 January 2019 (the page says 10/2/2016).

Hello,

I’m the author of Adventuron, and I’d like to suggest the following updates for the Adventuron row of the list.

Website = https://adventuron.io/documentation
Last Updated = 2020/05/20
User Interface = Parser + Choice
Scripting Language = Rion (JSON-like)
IDE = Web
Game File Format = HTML/JavaScript Or 8-Bit
Complexity = Low
Can Self Publish Titles = Yes, Non-Commercial Use Only
Open Source = No

If we’re bringing this back to life, I wouldn’t mind having my engine added as well.

Engine: Sadako
Website: https://github.com/Tayruh/sadako/
Last Updated = 2020/05/12
User Interface = Hyperlink and/or Choice
Scripting Language = Sadako Script, JavaScript
IDE = None
Game File Format = HTML & JavaScript
Complexity = Low to Medium
Can Self Publish Titles = Yes
Open Source = Yes

Now that the list is in IFWiki, anyone can edit it. Just create an account first. (When it asks for “the other magic word” while creating an account, the answer is “plugh”.)

Thank you very much! I meant to do it myself but forgot. :smile:

More updates:

Based on @Wysardry’s tip, I looked into Aiee! and marked it as defunct; while the wayback machine still has its webpage and there’s an entry on a defunct free-software site, there is no download aside from the out-of-date one available on the IF Archive.

Short of contacting Mark Hughes and asking if he still has the code & wishes to release it, I don’t see Aiee! coming back from the dead. If I’m out of line, let me know; I’m always loathe to kill off IF systems.

Thanks too.

No problem you guys! I was there already, figured I could lend a hand. =)

Wanted to let you guys know about my project as well. I’m the author of fablement.com
