Thank you very much for playing the Reliquary and thanks for your review!!
Errand Run: a slice of life story with a twist. It’s a short game but the pacing is great, with a more interactive first part and a powerful end. The tone and the text stylings support the escalation. The subject matter feels very timely after all the Rapture discourse on social media during the previous weeks.
Horse Whisperer: an incomplete sports management game with an unusual premise (talk to horses in order to fix a race). The plot and dialogue are funny and the NPCs feel quite fleshed out. I could not win the game and found some incomplete conversation branches, which make me wonder if it’s actually possible to win the game in its current state. I’d like to play again when it’s finished.
The Little Four: very charming Hercule Poirot fan fiction. I think I’ve only read Murder on the Orient Express, so I’m not really familiar with all the background of the story and characters. The game world is not very large but it feels dense, with object descriptions providing details on the characters’ backstory. The main storyline is clearly signposted, with the next goal being shown on the status bar. There a larger more open quest at the end whose resolution feels very satisfying. The main takeaway are the reflections on aging and the passage of time, that provide some gravitas to the domestic mystery storyline.
Thank you so much for your kind notes on The Little Four! It’s been lovely to hear from players with different degrees of familiarity with the source material. And it really means a lot to hear that those details of the writing and design made for a satisfying experience!
