This far, we have recevied surprisingly few votes.
If you can, play 3+ randomly selected games for an hour each, then submit your votes before 1 January. Thanks!

I can add that the games are generally very short – multiple of them shorter than the judging limit of one hour, so on average, judging three games takes less than three hours.
(I don’t have a lot of time but was able to judge all games.)
Remember that you can add your playtimes to IFDB to help other people see how long they should expect to spend on a particular game!
I was under the impression we wanted judges’ games selection to be random until the comp is over. I have not added play time for the same reason I have not yet publically reviewed any of them.
No such thing is mentioned in the rules for judges, even as a suggestion. But even if I were very strictly playing the games in a preselected random order, it would still be helpful for managing my time to know how long the next game up is expected to take. Plus, if you’re trying to encourage people to judge, you can say stuff like “the average game length is 20 minutes” or “a random selection of 3 games is very unlikely to take more than 2 hours” (both of those are just examples; I have no idea what the actual figures are).
Sure! I spent an average of about 41 minutes judging each submission (though for one of them I used hints generously to get to the end within the 60 minute judging timeline) plus a few more minutes for scoring and compiling feedback.
I played all the games in this comp before the holidays. They are all short and entertaining. I recommend!!
Just for another time reference, it took me 3.5 hours to play all the entries over the weekend. I enjoyed playing them and also seeing how people used the theme!
Even though…I completely forgot there was a theme until just now. A couple of the thematic interactions were so conspiciuous I almost remembered, but I’m not sure I would’ve even guessed what it was if I wasn’t just reminded of it.
Hmm, metagame idea: if you don’t know what the theme is and haven’t played the games yet, try some of them and see if you can guess it!
I’ll also add my tuppence worth and say that there is still time to play all the games - and some of them can be done in much less than an hour. They do mostly wear the theme lightly, probably a sign of a good theme.
Bump
I posted a last-minute call for judges on the German forum, maybe it’ll net some additional votes (it’s a small community, though). ![]()
