Nightfall – a choice-driven thriller with 14 endings

I am a solo developer and I recently released my game, Nightfall, a choice-driven interactive thriller.

A casual trip to the mountains with a group of friends turns into something much darker…

The story branches in the game are based on your decisions, relationships with the other characters and items/weapons that you can find on your way. There are 14 different endings, and replayability was one of the main things I wanted to focus on.

This is my first released interactive-fiction project, so I’d be especially interested in your feedback. If you give it a try, I’d love to hear which ending you reached and what you thought of the choices along the way.

The game is available on itch.io in browser:

The game is also available on google play:

Nightfall on IFDB:

Thanks for taking a look!

I liked the game and the story. The choices worked well and it wasn’t always obvious which one to choose, which is good. I found the presentation a bit odd on desktop, but i presume the aspect ratio is mainly designed for mobile play.

I played through the game once. It was a good experience even though I got a bad ending. One quibble I had was the transition between drinking coffee at a bar to walking on a trail in the woods. Basically there was no transition, so I’m not sure how I got from one place to the other. Besides that, everything flowed well.

It is not well visible, but there is a button in the right lower corner where you can get the full screen version. The game is responsive, so it should adapt to almost any screen. I hope this helps.

In the full-screen version, the text in the links is tiny compared to the text elsewhere. Not unreadably so, but enough to be annoying.

Thank you for the info. This helps me a lot to correct the mistakes… I already increased the font size in the game, it should be more readable

Thanks for the tip, but the fullscreen version means i cant do anything else at the same time. which is annoying.

Yes, unortunately, it’s a built in feature on itch.io, I can’t really do anything about it.
