Okay, I can see this is a point of confusion. I will think about how to phrase this.
However, we do need to know what people are donating money for! Colossal Fund donations aren’t earmarked for IFComp (20% goes back to the general fund), but we need to know which donations came in through the IFComp button or we wouldn’t know how much the CF fundraiser raised.
I don’t mind donating, but it must not go toward any IF that has any gannets in it. I only wish to see expurgated IF without the gannets.
I know you’re kidding, but we don’t fund IF games at all, currently. Except through IFComp prizes, and there the community decides what games do well.

(I don’t see the fuss, personally; even if I were the censorious type, they’re not nearly as scandalous as their sibling genus Sula.)
The anti-gannet position is both outrageous and morally repugnant. What did the little gannets ever do to deserve that!

Thanks for reminding me about “restricted funds” (as a nonprofit concept that we are definitely not doing). I wasn’t thinking about that aspect when I wrote the original messages.
