Milliways Autopsy: examining a 39-year-old test dummy brought alive and then put in a car crash by Max Fog

BY THE WAY, have you guys put all your reviews on IFDB from the comp? I’d suggest doing so, since only @Edo and @manonamora have, and still only 1 rating (Edo’s).

EDIT: How long does it usually take to get a game file confirmed by the IFArchive? Since I have done so and it’s been a few days.

Some reviewers dump them all in one go, some queue them so only a handful appears every day. Some don’t move their reviews to the IFDB.
But you can link external reviews (external to the IFDB) on the game page.

Depends on when the volunteers log in and approve the files. Can take a while sometimes…

This is a great achievement. Congratulations! The z5 file is up on IFDB now, and I played a bit of it in Lectrote.

You mentioned you wrote this in ZIL. Would you be willing to share your ZIL source code? Some classic ZIL source code rescued from the Infocom drive has been published on GitHub, but as far as I know this is one of the only modern games written in ZIL.

Thanks! Oh, I wouldn’t play that version of the game. That’s the original Comp release which is riddled with bugs, under-implementation, and almost certainly impassable moments (eg. the notorious cupboard puzzle - Lectrote is one of the interpreters that has a big problem with it). I’d recommend waiting until the new release passes into the ifarchive.

I will get all the files up on GitHub and then send a link here.

There is some playing going on of post-intro Prince Quisborne now that the comp is over, and as the latter half of the game got very little beta testing, I’ve been eating up transcripts and making tons of improvements. For that reason, I opened a GitHub for myself just so I could upload my game file there, and update it as frequently as I wish. Currently, the PQ IFDB link points to this GitHub download, although I may point it back to the IFArchive eventually if I feel the game is smoothed out enough to not need frequent uploads…
Just saying, you probably don’t need to wait for the IFArchive update if you do something similar?

Good idea! I’ll get onto that tomorrow morning…

UPDATE: For those who would like to see the Milliways source code, it up here:

The code is barely legible, and I implemented a stupid function that wasted loads of time and some painful stuff. Read at your own risk!

DL’d. I’ll look at the source, but I suspect that became a study…
