Thanks, Mike. You were indeed the first person to finish the game, as far as I know – perhaps the only one so far. As I said in the in-game notes, you and the other testers deserve MAJOR credit for whipping a lot of messy code into shape.
Two years ago I landed in 16th place for Captivity, which was my first venture into IFComp. This year I decided ahead of time that I would hope to come in 10th. I ended up 8th, so I’m satisfied. I knew the game was way too long for the comp. I wonder if any of the judges used the hints to advance more quickly so as to get a better idea about the game. (The text messages from Samantha were invented during testing specifically to help players get the story moving more quickly.)
